Hate to break it to you, but women aren't any better. Some of the worst fandom drama I have ever dealt with came from a cosplay group that was entirely female.

(Anonymous) 2020-03-25 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think they're necessarily talking about drama

I know, right? If you're gonna throw me into /pol/ as a known jew, or throw me into /cgl/ as... well, anyone really, and I'll take /pol/ every day...

op here

(Anonymous) 2020-03-26 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
This wasn't drama. The police were involved both times. Not going into detail.

I read this as No Tall Men.

Just so you know.

Women might not be inherently better wrt drama dude but there's less ogling and groping in an all-female cosplay group than when you cosplay alone in front of men.

(Anonymous) 2020-03-26 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Not necessarily. I've been very much grabbed at and have seen other cosplayers getting grabbed at by female con-goers as well, even if it was under the guise of "glomping"(ugh). It's amazing how often personal space just disappears and you become a free-for-all inappropriate touching target complete strangers feel entitled to just because they know/recognise your costume/character. It just flies under the radar with girls/women.

Most of the groups I've done RPG with were largely not cis men—there were usually a few, but not >50% of the party—and ngl, it made for a much more enjoyable atmosphere.

My local games shop had a women-only D&D night - of course, all of that sort of thing is suspended at the moment. I only went a few times, because I'm very good at putting off social interaction.

If this is bait, well done. It's good bait.

If this is sincere, sorry you've been having a bum time of it.

I suspect this is a little column A little column B, but either way I just want to thank you for inspiring me in my upcoming tweets! 8D

(Anonymous) 2020-03-26 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
I can't believe you'd think this is bait when you're the definition of a fucking sleazeball creep no one, especially women, would want anything to do with.

Slightly off topic, but...

...the artwork used for the secret is pretty.

Frankly, I'm not surprised.
This point in my life, I'm pretty much over men.

(Anonymous) 2020-03-26 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
From personal experience I feel like this really depends on what type of fandom/interest.

I had been to a few 'ladies night' game bars and they had been fun (it didn't bar men from entering the bar, but there were largely women there on those nights). But I've been to cosplay meet ups and things similar that didn't not go so well.
The worst one still is the Hetalia meet up where about 80% of the group were the absolute worst versions of 'yaoi fangirls' who took the random roleplays way too seriously and one girl spent the whole day carrying one of those marshmallow spreads jar and making cum jokes with it. It ended with me escaping with two other people who wanted out of the group that was heading towards one of those temporary theme parks, as they screeched away into the public. Now, granted this is probably counts as more of a weeb issue than a gendered one - just because the group mostly consists of women doesn't mean you won't have any problems. That being said I do get it because there are guys who come to gatherings and just ruin it for everyone so idk.

(Anonymous) 2020-03-26 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's definitely not just a weeb thing. I once got talked into doing a (non-anime) group cosplay with a friend and some people she knew and it was a miserable experience because two of the people involved had huge egos and wanted all of the attention to be on them at all points.

Tabletop games, yes. Cosplay, no.

Thankfully, I personally never experienced much crap about being a woman in the tabletop community and it’s definitely becoming more common, but I’ve seen some horror stories and I see why men can ruin that for someone who isn’t a cis white male.
