Hate to break it to you, but women aren't any better. Some of the worst fandom drama I have ever dealt with came from a cosplay group that was entirely female.

I don't think they're necessarily talking about drama

I know, right? If you're gonna throw me into /pol/ as a known jew, or throw me into /cgl/ as... well, anyone really, and I'll take /pol/ every day...

op here

This wasn't drama. The police were involved both times. Not going into detail.

#NoTaLlMeN

I read this as No Tall Men.

Just so you know.

Is that not what they meant? Shite

(Anonymous) 2020-03-26 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Women might not be inherently better wrt drama dude but there's less ogling and groping in an all-female cosplay group than when you cosplay alone in front of men.

(Anonymous) 2020-03-26 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Not necessarily. I've been very much grabbed at and have seen other cosplayers getting grabbed at by female con-goers as well, even if it was under the guise of "glomping"(ugh). It's amazing how often personal space just disappears and you become a free-for-all inappropriate touching target complete strangers feel entitled to just because they know/recognise your costume/character. It just flies under the radar with girls/women.

(Anonymous) 2020-03-26 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I have friends who have actually had costumes damaged because people just came up to them and glomped them without any sort of warning or asking of permission. Unwanted touching while in cosplay is absolutely not just the domain of men, it just gets overlooked or downplayed when women do it.

(Anonymous) 2020-03-26 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
No offense, but I would gladly take "glomping" from people who aren't sexually attracted to me over perverse dudes objectifying me for their own enjoyment any day. There's a vast difference.

(Anonymous) 2020-03-26 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
I mean... you sure have been in the lucky position not to make the acquaintance of those creepy fangirls who don't just stick to the glomping. I've been in the lucky position to have never met any of the male creeps who won't accept boundaries but I still don't pretend they don't exist.

(Anonymous) 2020-03-26 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
There isn't, though? Touching without permission is touching without permission. It doesn't matter what excuse the person doing it tries to use or for what reason they're doing it. It's not okay.

Ogling is creepy but in no way is it the same thing as committing actual physical assault.

...

(Anonymous) 2020-03-28 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
here, let me spell it out for you: if someone has not given their permission for you to touch them, it matters not one whit why you are touching them. it's still assault whether you're touching them for sexual reasons or completely non-sexual reasons.

(Anonymous) 2020-03-26 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly this. Like I was young when I cosplayed, but not once did a guy inappropriately approach me about it. I took a lot of photo's, but only random girls decided to run up and grab me out of nowhere. I didn't care since I knew about glomping, but even dressed up as Belldandy I didn't have any kind of trouble.

WAAAAHHHHH MEN ARE NEVER BAD WHAT ABOUT MEEEEEEENNNNNN???
