I was thinking about that one too a lot lately!

Whenever I see that quote I can't help thinking "Not for the Sith, it doesn't!" because of a somewhat non-sequitur intro to an obscure song parody from maybe 2006.

My inner nihilist approves, and to that I add:

"Your fat king and your lean beggar is but variable service — two dishes, but to one table. That’s the end." (Hamlet, 4:3)

I am making headband holders from oatmeal containers for a certain rabid Disney collector I know.

Same problem. I saw the first episode he was in and went, "oh, we're doing this are we? Do we have to?"

What was the first fandom you made your first fanwork in?

Mine was House MD, I drew a chibi styled fan comic and made the mistake of posting it on the fandom comm on LJ.

“Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.”

Feeling this right now. Because man everything is so overwhelmingly bad right now. But I want to do some good and maybe I can do a little and help a few people and I need to focus on that and stop focusing on the overwhelming whole.

Harry Potter. God. My "fanfics" if you could call them that. I was okay at drabbles, but I tried some other things and they didn't work at all.

Talked to my doctor. I now have to see a rheumatologist. Who knows how long that will take (my face looks awful). Went on a couple walks but it is super windy so those were not very enjoyable.

Because...that's what I'm in the fandom for? That's why I'm reading fic? Because I like those specific characters and the way they are in canon and I want more of them, specifically, not a cookie cutter with their names slapped on.

(Anonymous) 2020-04-16 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It's generally not.

I was going to say “don’t put that out in the universe” but it probably wouldn’t even be top 5 worst things I’ve read in fic where the author makes erm... creative use of his magic.

Almost certainly Neopets.

I'm terrible, I usually quote movies for silliness sake or in-jokes with family/friends instead of remembering anything meaningful lol.

My favorite one to pull out when my friends least expect it, is from the first X-men movie by Storm:
"Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightening - the same thing that happens to everything else"

Samurai Jack. I wrote a descriptive horror version of the opening to the show (the eclipse and Aku attacking them) and intended to fill in some of the blanks between the future and the past but I realised that the show approach of not telling you too much about Jack’s training etc was better.

It was a small fandom so there wasn’t too much in the way of wank, I got off lightly in terms of any criticism!

(Anonymous) 2020-04-16 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Right? I was trying to figure out if the OP did that purposely (why? what does it mean?!) or if it's a REALLY BAD typo.

(Anonymous) 2020-04-16 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously, were you in the middle of something while writting that, OP?

When secrets like this show up, I always wonder

(Anonymous) 2020-04-16 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
How do some people not recognize how subjective taste can be?

When I don't find someone funny or attractive or interesting, I don't assume that nobody else does either. While I am sometimes surprised by how many people like or dislike something, that has to do with my assumptions about popularity, which is generally based on limited sources.

(Anonymous) 2020-04-16 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't like superbat, but you're not alone superbat is VERY popular. Is probably the biggest ship for both Clark and Bruce

(Anonymous) 2020-04-16 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, exactly my reaction.

Aladdin fanfiction was my first tentative dip into fandom and I had a lot of fun with it. Man, fanfiction.net was the Wild West back then.

They definitely gave him a rehab job in the final moments. 'He started with such good intentions and prison has made him realize how terrible the things he did were'

And they spent an entire episode talking to everyone who disliked Carole rehashing every possible rumor about her ex husband but spent like two minutes of how Joe used meth to control his husbands, barely touched on how he torched alligators, shot tigers, etc.

It is a very gentle CPR with mood lighting, and their mecha does do a heart-shaped explosion. That's... pretty much it though. XD Still ship it.
