Re-watching Star Trek TNG during this lockdown has made me realise that you see the actors over time getting older, obviously over the 7 years of the original run that will happen. And yet when I watched this as a kid I know I didn't notice nor care. I noticed other details more than "that person is older" - like costume changes and stuff. It's kinda liberating to realise that how much I've changed in 10 years probably isn't as bad as I think.

Not being able to visit my hairdresser atm (along with everyone else) is making me accept grey roots as well!

Haha, not Supernatural actually! It's a tiny fandom so don't really want to name it. Oddly it's not an "age in real time" scenario as it was a 1 season wonder

But I 100% agree on the Dean thing ;)

Oh man, I'm really interested to know! But I get wanting to keep a microfandom quiet. A show that covers that much time in a single season sounds really interesting to me, though.

(one of my fandoms is a non-Supernatural long-runner and I've also had the experience of seeing characters grow up and visibly age and like... it really IS reassuring? The female lead has changed a LOT over the years but if anything I think she looks more beautiful after more than a decade. Seeing the laugh lines develop on people is weirdly heartwarming.)

DA - I wish I felt this way. I tend to find it kind of sad and unnerving. I watched all ten seasons of friends over the course of about eight months, and I was sad to see them age. I mean, they were all still fairly good looking by the end, but I don't think any of them ended the show as good looking as they'd started it. I found myself thinking back to the earlier seasons and remembering that (for lack of a less cheesy term) bloom of youth they'd had.

I wish I could look at them and be warmed by seeing them slowly age. I'm 32 myself, and I look young but I can definitely see myself aging. I'm trying to have some equanimity about it, but it's tough.

I've just started a Numb3rs rewatch, and OMG David is such a baby in the first season. Some of it is a lack of facial hair, but you compare David from season six to David in season one.

He had to take a run up to get to those levels of hotness.

My hair's about 1/3 grey right now, grey and white. Fuck it, OP - celebrate those greys! I've had a streak of grey in my hair since i was like 20 or something, in the back (my brother discovered it and pointed it out to me), and when I started going grey all over it's like...well, okay, then! All good. :D
