If that's the actual art then yeah, I agree. There's not much leeway in the way of coloured drawings when you're trying to distinguish race.

they're white like paper - they're white in that no actual colour has been put into their bodies
it's generally agreed that they have no canon ethnicity

Interesting. I'll have to check out the actual comic then just to see the actual artstyle. I'm used to toning and the like, even when it drawn completely black and white. I know Homestuck has gone through like over a dozen artstyles over the years so no canon ethnicity does make sense I suppose.
