A lot of those experiences are very cultural, though. Someone from a different country who grew up in a different culture might not have experienced them. And I think a conservative religion could be seen as a culture. Personally, I grew up in the Philippines and semi-religiously conservative (my parents didn't abnormally restrict all that much past elementary school, but the missionary culture around us didn't give the same access that being in the US would have). Philippine culture was very different, and the missionary culture was also very different from US culture and Philippine culture. So I experienced things very differently from someone growing up in the US.

Basically, I don't think there is a universal childhood experience, I think it is very culture-based.

Well, yeah. I mean - that's a given, I'd say.

Well, then, I don't think "missing out" is necessarily true. I mean, different cultures experience different things. And maybe her culture has experiences that another culture doesn't too. Not that I think that bubble parenting is good parenting, but I think framing it as "missed experiences" is the wrong way to look at it and the wrong thing to criticize. Especially because other, non-religiously conservative parents often restrict their kids from things to varying degrees.

If she's American - and I think she is, though I could be wrong - then her culture *is* American, even if hyper-religious. She's on YouTube, so i'd say that she's not in some separate little world or anything and yes, she's 'missed out'.

It's not a tragedy, but from the wording of the secret and a couple comments, I'd say she's aware of it.

The YouTuber is white, American, and grew up in Ohio. So yeah, there's absolutely no question she's missed out on some stuff and anyone who tries to spin it differently is doing so for reasons that go beyond logic.

Question is, was it anything of value? I say no.
