(Anonymous) 2020-05-14 12:23 am (UTC)(link)like i'm gonna be even meaner: i don't think most 'fix-it's' are actually better than what happened(most of the time i think they're woooooooorse), just far more self-indulgent, often to the detriment of the actual situation and the characters, and i'd rather people write fic taking the shit that happens into account than ignoring it.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-14 12:57 am (UTC)(link)I think this is spot on. There's things I wish could've happened in canon that didn't, or that I would've done a certain way-nothing wrong with that. But that doesn't necessarily mean my version of the story is "better" or "right".
And I especially agree with the last part of your sentence.
