Stop calling your fics "fixit fics", if you are making even less sense than the canon writing. Just pushing your OTP together isn't fixing anything.

like i'm gonna be even meaner: i don't think most 'fix-it's' are actually better than what happened(most of the time i think they're woooooooorse), just far more self-indulgent, often to the detriment of the actual situation and the characters, and i'd rather people write fic taking the shit that happens into account than ignoring it.

I think this is spot on. There's things I wish could've happened in canon that didn't, or that I would've done a certain way-nothing wrong with that. But that doesn't necessarily mean my version of the story is "better" or "right".

And I especially agree with the last part of your sentence.

A good fix-it, though...when canon has made an absolute hash of things.....

sorry but i barely think of any 'good' fix-it's, i've read ones that pandered to my particular tastes, but that doesn't make it good.

jk I never really understood the premise of a "fix-it fic". That's just a fic. You change things. You do what you want. And I don't just mean for OTPs, I mean maybe the MC made a in important decisions and you decide to change that decision
