(Anonymous) 2020-05-23 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)Honestly my favorite type of M/M ship is two pretty boys together where one isn't the top or the bottom but they both switch.
But yeah part of the reason why I dislike changing a characters appearance or anything from canon is that you get attached to the idea of them you made up and disappointed whenever you engage with the source material or run into other fancontent that depicts them as they are in canon. I think a of of wank surrounding headcanons and such ends up being because of this.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-24 10:08 am (UTC)(link)I feel like in western live action (which is my niche) there just aren't many pretty boys. I mean, there are men who are masculine in a slightly pretty way. But not very many who are just out and out pretty.
Especially since the trend right now seems to be muscles and gymsporation, so even guys who start off slim and pretty often bulk up once they start to get successful (and often the muscle gain shows in their face as well.)

Yep, that sums it up. I definitely try to keep myself in check, though. Like, I headcanon what I want, but I really try not to confuse my headcanon with canon.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-24 10:39 am (UTC)(link)OP - My real-life, Caucasian go-to for this look is Troye Sivan. I am constantly headcanoning characters as looking more like Troy Sivan than they actually do. 😂

(Anonymous) 2020-05-23 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)A lot of characters I end up multishipping though so I guess most of them I see as bisexual overall.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-24 10:18 am (UTC)(link)I actually DO think Jensen Ackles had a very pretty kind of masculinity when he was younger. But he was still very masculine looking, even in his late teens.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-24 09:34 am (UTC)(link)I've had this happen to me with other characters, but at the moment the character it's happening with is MCU Peter Parker.
I don't feel like he was ever really "twinkish" per se, but he was kind of close in the early days. But he's pretty much completely left that behind at this point. Which is doubly complicated by the fact that I only ship legally-of-age Peter, so basically, he grew out of the borderline-twinkish looks I headcanon him having, as he was growing into the age where I actually ship him.
