Yeah I know what you mean. It's been too much. Like if you don't post something positive about the movement or donate or whatever then you are made to feel like a bad person, or you need to see the chaos erupting just because. Try to imagine this: if the pandemic had not happened, do you think people would have marched for this cause or come out as crazily as they did? Don't let them get you down if you can. Stay off of social media, read a book you like, or download a fic you like and read it offline. Anything to get away from all this stuff right now.

Hey if people want to police us and/or bully people or shun them into leaving that's their prerogative. There's a reason why this place is slowly cannibalizing itself. In many ways it's basically just another echo chamber like many other social media sites are. Try not to take it too personally. : ( People suck sometimes, but I hope you can start to enjoy your fandoms again soon. I'm already seeing people start to back off or move back into their old stuff, so maybe just enjoy content on your own away from social media for a while.

I want to talk about it. But I don't want that to be all I see and talk about 24/7. People think "I have to talk about this, it's important" but then another bad thing happens, and then another thing, and people get angry if you seem to be paying more attention to one issue than another. So you start trying to give them all equal time. Suddenly, issues in the news are all you're talking about. If talking about the news becomes basically your second job, it starts to wear you out, as you start to feel surrounded by unsolvable horrible problems that never stop coming which you, personally, are required to at least weigh in on. Everything else has to stop so you can do this. But life doesn't stop just because bad things have happened (in particular, the type of bad things which happen every day all over the world for centuries that one person giving up things they enjoy will not fix).

Honestly, I do kind of resent the pressure to post about things I can't do shit about.

I vote against oppression, but I can't afford to donate to every cause that asks, either.
