Wrote an asylum brief today I'm proud of. On the other hand, I seem to have slept funny last night and done something to my right hip. It hurts to put weight on it. So that's not good.

Waiting for dinner right now. We're having barbeque ribs and mashed potatoes and corn on the cop. MMMmmm.

Will watch some Whose Line is it Anyway tonight and hopefully go to bed early.

The last couple of days have been really nice so I've been spending most of my time on my patio, which is cool and shady until about 6pm. I go out in the morning with my coffee, a book, and a doobie. Its very relaxing, and I'm reading a lot more these days.

I picked up some more bird seed this afternoon and then got some lunch at Jack in the Box (Ultimate Cheeseburger and curly fries, also tried the new Tiny Tacos and they're a great stoner food, lol). No idea what I'm going to do this evening. I'm still full of lunch (lol) so no idea about dinner either.

Ordered some teas, there was a slight glitch about a discount but it got taken care of, paid my rent and my phone bill, trying not to go crazy re not being able to go to my favorite bars, bookstores, music stores, cafes, etc. or see my friends for months.

Everything is shit. I came home from work yesterday and my neighbors had cut down every plant I was growing over the ancient fence between our (well, mine and their landlord’s) two properties—2 mature flowering dragonfruit, some bougainvillea and (thornless) blackberry*, kiwi, rose, and grapevines, and crushed a young rare (the fruit reach 2 pounds and it took me years to track down) avocado tree. And then complained that the fence was falling apart.

It was disintegrating years before I ever planted anything on it; the plants were holding it up, not the other way around. They’ve also previously cut a pomegranate and an apple tree basically in half and killed a mature loquat my dad grew from seed 25 years ago. They’ve covered their entire yard with plastic tarp and cardboard to smother everything but a giant, firetrap, non native pine with branches entangled in my power lines and roots that constantly invade my sewer pipes, beneath which they have a firepit. Where they have bonfires all summer, even during wildfires.

Their yard also contains a rusty van on blocks, a giant fiberglass shark, a zillion surfboards, stolen road signs, and heaps of random crap. I’m a hoarder in the making but at least my yard is full of plants.

They’ve never spoken to me. They’ve complained to code compliance about my legal hens, violate the ban on gatherings with non-household members every weekend, set off mortar rounds, and are probably gonna have a huge drunken party this weekend.

If I ever win the lotto, I’m buying their house off their landlord, kicking them out, and letting a family who loves gardening stay there rent free.

*where I live, blackberries require coddling and are not an invasive death weed, this is the first year mine set more than a handful of fruit and they are maybe 6 years old.

And I went to put my hens away last night and one was bloody and weak. She’d laid blood clots instead of an egg. I called out from work and took her to the vet this morning and had her put down. She was nine and my head hen, the last of the first flock I’d raised by hand from three days old. It turns out she had maggots eating her from the inside out. And I can’t go out in the yard while the neighbors are killing more of my plants and pulling down the rest of the fence, so I’ll probably be burying her in the dark tonight.

I know this is all trivial in the face of what many people are dealing with right now, but still, fuck 2020. Next week is the 5th anniversary of my dog’s death and the 3rd anniversary of my mom’s. (Same day.) COVID cases are skyrocketing here. I fucked up my leg at work last week but I can’t drive so to get anything done I have to walk on it. I spent three hours in a hospital waiting room to get it looked at because I had to file a worker’s comp claim in case it happens again, and now I’m (more) terrified of catching COVID.

Please for the love of fuck let all this shit (not just mine) be some kind of sacrifice to remove the chump and his lickspittles and his international dictator pals from power.

Did a bit of online work earlier on one of my usual projects, then got a frantic call from my boss about computer issues she was having, so I had to remotely connect to her computer and get it all figured out, then spend a bit of time on the phone with her going over everything.

Other than that I've been super lazy and boring. Paid a bill online, did some reading, and watched some TV. I'm going to read more tonight because I only have I think 30 something pages left in one of the books I'm reading and I want to finish it.

And I'm getting ready to make pizza for dinner. :)

Got a lot of work done and then went grocery shopping. The highlight of my day was finding a wine-sized bottle of hand sanitizer.

I'm relieved that the worst things I know about Hugh are he smokes and he likes It's A Wonderful Life. (I just hope he doesn't think if a woman isn't married it's some sort of fate worse than death like that movie implies....)

apparently she was 7-10 years old and he was 9-12 at the time of the alleged abuse. and the mother doesn't believe it. i'm skeptical.

The guy who played Joey in Friends is by all accounts a lovely guy who treated his female costars with courtesy and stood up for them when guest stars were dicks to them.

I finally finished most of my academic work, but now that I have some time to relax I don't feel motivated at all. My sleep schedule is all messed up and depression hit hard after being so busy. I think I just need a few days to unwind then slowly start to do fun things again. It's annoying though.

I've been trying to find a list of kink prompts I saw on DW forever ago and I was wondering if anyone had their own favorite prompts list that they have worked on/are still working on?

I use to find a few good ones on Deviantart, but I'm finding it to buggy to use atm.
