I'm pretty much the same. I started my porny sock puppet account so I could explore my actual kinks, but these days 99% of what I publish is either just "for the lols" or out of spite against the antis.

I also have a sort of self imposed challenge where I try to write at least one story for every ship that doesn't already have one in my fandom, so most of my output involves ridiculous pairings to boot.

Not wanting to read fic with unhappy endings isn't 'shaming' anyone for writing unhappy-ending fics. It's just stating a preference.

The other stuff - yeah, that's shaming and stupid and fuck that noise, write what you like!

I had a comment once telling me that it was homophobic to end my fic with a 'everybody dies' ending - which I had originally thought was a joke, until I had happened to come across someone on tumblr through the tags describing a fic that sounded like the fic I wrote - going into how fics like mine should be banned.

It would have made sense to complain if it wasn't for the fact that I had tagged the fic with death, character death and unhappy ending. There's plenty of people out there throwing a fit over the tags and summary alone without opening a fic - which is like the equivalent to screaming about the fact that there's horror books in the horror section of the book store.

No kidding. I don't get people who complain when the tags/notes *tell them* exactly what they're getting into. Those types are baffling.

Unahppy endings aren't the same as kinks, for one. And honestly, the world is miserable enough to get tired of misery porn ending with no one happy. If I have suffering, I want some actual payoff for the suffering because I know I'm not going to get that in real life.

It's fine if that's what you like, but that doesn't make unhappy endings bad, or writers wrong for preferring them. People who moan about someone else writing the story they wanted to write instead of the one the reader thinks they should have written are invariably assholes.

Well its a good thing that you can choose NOT to read them and I can keep on writing unhappy endings to my fics whenever I want to - and in theory we can coexist regardless :D
