Ended up calling my doctor since my headache wouldn't go away and it had been 6 days. He gave me a new prescription. It has started to help at least a little. And it also is a relaxant as well as a painkiller, so I feel a whole lot less tense. I took it an hour ago and I've been zoning since It kicked in. Probably going to crash and take a nap soon.

So yes, migraine day 6, but I appear to have turned the corner.

I'm glad you've got something that helps! Living with that kind of pain for six days straight sounds like a nightmare!

Just horribly messing up work emails. Going to have to go into exile. :<

Also, went to my local Walmart (rural Oklahoma) to pick up meds. Was pleasantly surprised that everyone was wearing masks (correctly!).

Yeah, I was really surprised to see every single person I saw wearing one the last time I went. Granted, it was after their rule went into effect, but I still expected some people to not be wearing them/starting drama over it since before their policy was implemented there were times when only like half the people would be wearing them.

Have noticed fruit flies the past few days but wasn't sure where they were coming from. I discovered the source today (potatoes I could've sworn I'd already thrown out) and got rid of that so I'm hoping between their food source being gone and the sticky trap things I got from Amazon, they'll be gone soon.

Also, it's been storming like crazy for the past half an hour. I was talking to my mom and their electricity went out so I'm hoping it stays on here!

Yep. :( I'm hoping between the sticky traps and the vinegar one I just put together that they'll be gone soon.

FYI for future reference, a good DIY fruit fly trap is:

1 drop dishwashing liquid
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup water

in a disposable cup. Or you can cut the top off a water bottle, invert it and put the bait in the bottom. It attracts the fruit flies and the inverted top prevents them from easily flying off again.

It's funny you say that, I was actually looking around for other stuff to do online hoping to get rid of them quicker, and had just finished putting together one of these with a little tupperware container (the closest thing I had to a disposable cup, it's really old and I was going to throw it out anyway) when I saw this. They keep flying around it and not going in but I'm hoping they will eventually!

It helps if you put it under a light source, the reflection off the water and soap suds seems to draw them closer.

Been volunteering at my local library. It's not opened up completely to the public yet, but we're sorting out returned books and finding books people have reserved online/over the phone so they can just pick it up at the front desk every few days. Today was one of the un-opened days so that I could look around the library for books for reservation or to pick up lucky-dip books.

It went alright, even though I got a little frustrated at inputting data with excel (we have to note what books we found or put to the side for lucky dips) - hoping to do better next week.

speaking as a person who loves libraries and severely misses being able to go to mine, thank you.

Even though all our library materials have had their due dates extended to September, I really need to go return the two baking cookbooks I checked out back in March before the libraries closed. It's to hot to bake now anyway and Paul Hollywood is totally judging me from his cover.

The nest the birds were building outside on an unfortunately tricky structure collapsed, and all four baby birds died. :(

I feel like a dick because I didn't try hard enough to shoo them away from building there, even though it was high up and I can't reach it without a ladder. Also, I can't stop thinking of the symbolism of it. Death, rebirth, lost souls... I hate having thoughts like that, because it implies their lives meant nothing, or were only a necessary "sacrifice" for the bigger picture, and that's just fucked up and insensitive.

Well, now I'm just rambling. After taking away the birds (I don't even want to say "cleaning up" because that just makes them sound like waste, like all the poop they left), I'll keep checking to make sure they don't rebuild there.

Oh, no, that's awful. Years ago my roommate's cat caught and killed an entire nest full of fledglings in one day, it was awful. This year the same kind of bird built a nest over my door, but I don't know if the fledglings survived their first day out; we have stray cats in the neighborhood and a bunch of hawks. But every time I see the same species in my yard I hope they fledged here.

I feel you. This happens at my house every few years or so: a dove tries to build a "nest" (dove nests are literally a dozen sticks piled on top of each other) in our wonderfully sheltered but steeply angled front door eaves, and every single egg they lay rolls off the eaves and smashes on the ground, and the doves will sit at the edge of the eaves and look down at the broken eggs, pitifully. Then there's finches that build on my busy patio and are so skittish they fly off every time anyone opens the back door, attracting attention from crows that inevitably discover the nest and eat the eggs/hatchlings.

Well, my housemate has been feeling like shit for the last three days--fatigue, headache, and zero appetite plus low grade fever. She got tested last week when she felt fine, just because there was a pop up testing site by her work, but now she's wondering why she hasn't gotten her results yet. And one of my coworkers has called out sick all this week so far and just went to get tested.

I feel fine, except for the bit where I spent two weeks ago PMSing, last week spotting, assumed my period was just gonna be unusually light since it stopped over the weekend, and then I started bleeding at work today while wearing a pale teal skirt. Luckily I didn't bleed through it, but it still sucks.
