5. Don't know why it gets bad fandom. The hype is probably just because the game was considered "revolutionary" for being the first FF in polygons rather than pixels, and I think it was one of the first RPGs out for the PSX...? I could be wrong, but yeah. It's made a lot more of an impact than you might think. I don't think that really justifies some of the atrocities that have come out of the fandom (and the new canon DDDDD:), but there you go. And that probably didn't explain anything and others have already done (I think) a good job of trying to explain it, SO WHATEVER. I just suck at shutting up when it comes to FFVII. |D;;

11. WE NEED TO START A SUPPORT GROUP. OH GOD, WHY. AND THINGS WERE FINALLY GETTING SORT OF CLEARED UP AND AND AND ASLDJWPGSSUP39*!!!!!!!

Also it started the FMV trend 8D

Re: 5

[identity profile] subversive.livejournal.com 2007-03-16 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
It did? XD I so didn't know that.

Re: 5

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2007-03-16 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
OH INDEED. It was the first game to include FMVs and be multi-disk. It may not be the best game ever made anymore, but at the time that's exactly what it was lauded as.

While I totally know it's mediocre and am under no delusions here... Asking why people still like the game is like asking why people still like Star Trek.

Yeah, at the time... Ifeelsoold It feels like forever ago. BUT YES. At the time it was 38947398274 kinds of WOW and SHINY. Now, there have definitely been improvements, but I'd at least refer to it as a classic. Don't know if that's entirely right, but it seems appropriate. OR MAYBE I AM BIASED.

And yes, that comparison works. XD;;

haha, I still remember being flabbergasted that the game was OMG HITTING IT'S FIFTH BIRTHDAY good lord we are old.

Court just made the apt observation that, "I think all these people are just bitter that they never played it as little kids and thus never felt the magic, and now they're just old and bitter that they MISSED THE TRAIN. AND WE'RE ON IT. AND WE AIN'T GETTING OFF."

I remember when I was a kid I used to get so frustrated when I made the damn thing crash into Corel. T____T I WANTED MY HUGE MATERIA SO IT COULD BE ALL PRETTY IN THE OBSERVATORY.

Re: 5

[identity profile] subversive.livejournal.com 2007-03-16 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
YA RLY. DDD: And I don't think that kid or whoever it was that sold you Ultima did it if you crashed the thing. AND ULTIMA WAS AWESOME, DAMNIT. DDDDDD: WTF. But yes. Damnit, I need to play that game again. XD;

I SECOND THIS SUPPORT GROUP IDEA.

.......OH WAIT YOU MEANT NOT FFVII.

::FEELS STUPID.::

Because that last comment of yours could TOTALLY WORK WITH FFVII TOO.

Did you just begin to understand what Jenova was? Were you finally able to make sense of the Lifestream concept? Had you resigned yourself to settling on the idea that everyone died at the end, that Cloud really had made peace with his own self? Had you accepted that ol' lovable Rufus was dead? Had you given up on ever making sense of WHO WAS WHICH SEPHIROTH? HAD YOU FINALLY PIECED YOUR LIFE TOGETHER WHEN COMPILATION CAME AND DESTROYED YOUR PADDED WALLS?

Welcome to the FFVII Support Group, for recovering FFVII fans everywhere.

It's like grief counseling, except for people who are trying to deal with the fact that their favorite characters are suddenly alive. 8D

[identity profile] subversive.livejournal.com 2007-03-16 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
... Actually, that's a damn good idea. Would it also cover getting over the trauma of WHAT THE FUCK SE IS DOING TO OUR BELOVED CANON AWLJEKDJF WTF GENESIS DX KILL IT

^I THINK THIS SHOULD HAPPEN

RULES SHOULD BE MADE

SUPPORT SHOULD BE GIVEN

ACCUSATIONS OF ELITISM SHOULD BE DENOUNCED XD

I don't even want to touch DoC now. ;_; I'm glad the fact that I boycotted it because of CID'S HICK VOICE shielded me. BECAUSE LIKE. EMILY SHOWED ME A CUTSCENE FROM THAT SHIT. WHAT. WHAT.

AndwhydidtheycastSpikeasVincent and I love Spike's voice.

...For Spike. T_T;

[identity profile] subversive.livejournal.com 2007-03-16 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
SO JOINED. MWAHAHAH, I AM THE SECOND MEMBER ASIDE FROM YOU, TEEHEELOLZ.

AND YEAH. DDDDDX Jesus Christ, what they did to Cid was horrible. He's YOUNGER THAN BARRET, GODDAMNIT. BUT NO. THEY MADE HIM SOUND FUCKING ANCIENT. NO PUN INTENDED, EVEN IF THAT'D BE A FUCKING STUPID PUN TO MAKE ANYWAY. I THINK. BUT STILL. CID FUCKING HIGHWIND IS NOT AN OLD MAN.

Spike for Spike is good. But not for Vincent. And his Japanese voice (Vincent's, not Spike's) is just so unbelievable SEX that it hurts my soul to hear it in English. Then again, a lot of the Japanese voices are like that. ._. DoC DOES NOT EXIST, KTHX. DOES. NOT. EXIST. *sobs*
