In honor of the 5000th post!

I hold the masked husky drama very dear to my heart. It's my favorite example of something fairly mundane spiraling out of control. I got involved on the action too. And when that post got featured on fandomwank, one of my comments on that secret's thread was featured in the article! I was super proud. lol

To this day, I'm really sad that I missed all of Tar Season. But it's legend lived on so I at least was properly informed.

I also want to say, Case, thank you so much for running this place! You're the standard I hold other mods too. And my once a day stop by here always brightens my day.

Not favorite but one that stuck with me: there was a secret years ago where op said they'd come out when Ellen Page would. I still think about that secret sometimes, and hope that op is out and proud now

I always found it puzzling that one or two anons (or maybe more, idk) would just go out of their way to JUMP on anything he said, even if/when he wasn't being provoking. Though I guess the same could be said of any other regular who posted, not intending to provoke. Oh well.

I miss the Yu-Gi-OH! related secrets from three thousand moons ago. It was a beautiful time when Yu-Gi-OH! was the gold standard for fandom bizareness and wankery.

A secret got posted about how masked huskies are always typecast as bad guys and trouble maker. It went from "dog racism" to human racism arguments. And just spiraled completely out of control. In the end I think the only media anyone could think of that followed this trend was Eight Below, Snow Dogs, and Balto. So much ado about nothing.

My favorite moments have been those times when I've commented on something, gone to sleep and the next day found out that the comment somehow triggered a huge unrelated flamewar. I've never intentionally managed to get such a response.

I'd also like to thank Case for being a consistently great mod and taking care of this place. The years just fly by when you are having fun.

I am also guilty of unintentionally triggering a long, angry thread at times (...and sometimes, due to MY comment, which wasn't at all intended to be triggery :/ ). I never know whether to bother salvaging the thread or just shrugging and moving on.

I don't think I've seen IP logging on in a long time. But when you saw that, you knew someone fucked up big time. The fallout over ip logging was always pretty funny too because anons would lose their mind when that was turned on. They always would accuse Case of censoring their free speech and unnecessarily monitoring them. Classic internet dumb.

The Inuyasha secret from a month ago was pretty wild too. And I'm kind of surprised logging didn't get turned on for that lol

I will always treasure the times I've posted a secret and people have loved the design. Like the one about Dilbert, where I was able to fit the text into the comic really well, I was so proud of that one.
I also did a secret about eating ass that a lot of people was very cleverly designed, which is not really an achievement I can ever tell anyone about, lol.

Not necessarily a favorite, but for some reason it stuck on my mind.

Years ago there was this one time when the "having babies vs being childfree" discussion happened and there was this one user (they were logged in but I can't remember the name) who said they were childfree and hated (or had a phobia) of babies. One (or more) anons took offense to it (or the tone of it) and started arguing with the user. At some point one of the anons brought up "What if you were in a plane or a cruise and there was an accident and you and a toddler ended up being the only two survivors stranded in a desert island? Would you take care of the baby then?"

It was such a ridiculous, elaborately specific hypothetical scenario that I just can't forget it.

It was pretty mild as far as wank goes, but I found the disagreement over whether or not it's reasonable to leave your front door unlocked when you're home to be really hilarious. People got kind of heated. It just didn't strike me as worth getting heated over, either way.
