not about to start a flame war or anything, but i'm just gonna say, as a furry, that it's not always a sexual thing. in fact it's just as often an identity thing. like me; i identify with the general personalities of dogs. i could see myself being like a canine. doesn't mean i want to rape people in fursuits.
yeah, there are people that take it to extremes, but the majority of us just love and identify with animals -- in an entirely platonic context. c:

Sometimes shit like this pisses me off even more than the bestiality does. WTF does this even mean? The only real traits all dogs share is that they like to hump legs, lick their genitals, and eat poop, grass, and dead things. Other than that, dogs have just as many different personalities as people do. Some are shy, some are snobby, some are mean, some are loving. This "I'm so special that I can only relate to dogs" crap is so fucking stupid and I honestly think it bothers me more than the desire to fuck animals.

well, i suppose furries do anthropomorphicise animals. but that's part of it, really. dogs are known to be loyal animals, and to never hold a grudge, among other things -- and a lot of "dog" traits i see in myself.
it's not about being ~*~special~*~ -- it's just like reading a book and seeing an alignment between you and a character, and saying you can relate. i can relate to dogs in general.

These are all characteristics of HUMANS, not dogs. Dogs have no perception of loyalty or grudges. Why isn't it good enough to just say "I relate to loyal, forgiving people"? This is what I find so bafflingly stupid about furries and I wish someone would give me an answer that makes any kind of sense. Is it because you tend to generalize humans as mean and disloyal and can only see dogs as having that kind of pure goodness?

yes, i know that, hence why i said humans anthropomorphicise animals. maybe it was the disney movies -- who knows -- but as a lot of people grow up, they've attributed certain traits to certain animals. owls are wise, foxes are cunning, etc... dogs are known for loyalty, among other things.

This is such a bad argument because, while I wouldn't say a furry shouldn't be allowed to have pets because I know not all furries are zoophiles, I would say yes to everything you just wrote.

Its the same thing though, with furry->zoophile, lolicon->pedophile, and so on. And if you actually know some people with lolicon fetishes, incest fetishes, or rape fetishes, you'd realize that its a fetish because its fantasy versus reality-- they'd never actually act on these urges.

While there are a few people who CAN'T distinguish reality versus fantasy, they often end up on the news or behind bars. But, most people aren't so stupid or immoral to harm people (or animals) to pursue their fetishes.

The difference is that some furries just think anthromorphs are cool, but ALL shota, loli, incest and rape is sex-based.

I roll my eyes at people who claim that, despite being turned on (in some cases) by the idea of children being raped/molested, they just know that they would NEVER do anything like that. No one knows themselves that certainly. I'm sure most criminals don't think of themselves as criminals before they commit their first crime. And I'm not saying that all people who like shota are pedophiles, but having children knowing you find the abuse of children sexy just seems like playing with fire to me, unless you get some serious in-depth therapy first.

Once again, I think its knowing the mind of lolicon, shota, rape, etc before hand. If its the fantasy they are after,
