Amen anon.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-16 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Same, OP, same. And being snarled at because 'not liking Omegaverse apparently means you are an anti' pissed me off.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-16 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Funny, people on here assured me that "people only ever get called an anti if they're doxxing people"... almost like that was bullshit...

(Anonymous) 2020-10-16 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Sucks to be you.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-16 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, I definitely agree!

(Anonymous) 2020-10-16 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. I wish it were possible to block certain tags while logged in to Ao3 natively. I know it can be done with the Ao3 Savior script on greasemonkey/tampermonkey/whatever but I have no idea how to get it working on my phone.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-16 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Why not both tho :3

(Anonymous) 2020-10-16 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I already comment on this in the secret-maker's thread, but I'll say the same thing here.

Hard disagree. D/s AUs lack everything I find hot about a/b/o (pheromones, heats, knots, size-kink, self-lubing butts), but keep, or even exacerbate, a lot of the stuff I find squicky (a world of biological determinism, where one class of people is inherently subjugated and disempowered by their genetics, and society is structured around compulsory adherence to that unequal status quo).

Not kink shaming, just talking about personal squicks.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-16 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
D/s isn't inherently about one class of people subjugating another class though. Sure, it's commonly seen as having Dominant men and submissive women but that is not always the case. Even the image OP used implies a woman Dominant.

My current favorite RP fun times actually involves a rather powerful male character submitting to a woman as his Dominant.

But they're also switches so it's not really a lifestyle D/s thing either except inasmuch as they both get something out of each role that's more than just about sex.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-16 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
NAYRT but since the secret mentioned specifically D/s AUs I assumed they were talking about the sort of AUs where every single person in the world gets assigned either as dominant or submissive and it is heavily enforced by society and even the law. I think that, based on their description, AYRT thought the secret was referring to that too.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-16 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
DA That's not the assumption I made from the secret at all, wow.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-17 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
even more different anon and I didn't get an "everyone in the world is assigned D or S" vibe from the secret either

I've legit never even -heard- of anything like that

I thought the secret meant an AU where the pairing in question was into bdsm, when they aren't in canon

I loathe that about *both* D/s and A/B/O stories that cling to that trope. DNW!

This. I'm into A/B/O for the gender fuckery and biological weirdness, not D/s. In fact, chances are I'll backbutton of any A/B/O that gets too D/s for my tastes.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-16 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
They are two very different kinks to me.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-16 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I completely agree, all I can of when I see A/B/O is 'hairless furries' and it kinda weirds me out that they're so popular.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-17 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
+1

(Anonymous) 2020-10-16 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I like both.

A lot of D/s stuff is in A/B/O stuff (Omegas being 's' and Alphas being 'D') and etc. I think it pretty much depends on the writer/the world, because I like both, but I run across a *lot* of D/s and A/B/O stuff written in such a way that I'm back-buttoning out a couple chapters in.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-17 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
God, same.

It was so shameless and hot, I miss those.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-17 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, I like the uncontrollable animalistic aspect of a/b/o, bdsm stuff is too clinical and coordinated for me to get into.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-17 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
HUGE mood, OP.

All the A/B/O folks who swear they're in it for the ~complicated social commentary~ make me laugh. Tons and tons of D/s AUs were all about that, bit without smelling kink and mpreg and reskinned seme/uke shit.

I want D/S for social roles and power dynamics clashing fic, and I want sex pollen for uncontrolled dubcon urges fic. I don't want them both and I REALLY don't want the ABO weirdness of "this person gets fucked and has the babies, but somehow everyone still calls him a man even though if this world were real we would obviously just base sex/gender determination/stereotpyes/roles on smell instead of outside anatomical/visual cues. Trans issues will never, ever be addressed, and all allegory will be as blunt, shitty, and preachy as possible."

(Anonymous) 2020-10-17 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
D/s AUs may be "about" social commentary, but they don't subvert the shit they "comment on" for shit. A/B/O does that way better. But go off, I guess.

It's okay that you're turned on by anal leakage, you know. You don't have to try to make it into a moral obligation first.
