Well, I was going to go out to get an allergy shot. But the lady my parents hire to clean our house every second Monday called to say that her daughter, whose house she visited this past Saturday before being at our house Monday, just told her she tested positive for COVID. So now I'm quarentined for 2 weeks and freaking out.

Also still have a migraine.

Went grocery shopping for the first time in three weeks. Had to go to two stores to find everything I needed, but I have food for at least a month now, so I don't have to go anywhere anytime soon.

Now I'm about to do laundry and then go curl up in bed and read/watch TV.

Tree guy was supposed to come today. So got our power line drop and then he said he would have to move it to tomorrow. -__- Work was busy as well because the freight company we use is incompetent. Made some delicious rice for dinner though. So got that at least.

I went grocery shopping this morning for Thanksgiving stuff (mainly so I won't have to deal with it next week), and it wasn't too bad. I found everything I wanted, and I saw they were again carrying the frozen pizzas I used to love that they stopped carrying for like two years, so yay!!! After the grocery store I stopped by the tea shop and got my favorite iced rose tea. I came home, put the groceries away, and worked out (today was leg day, woohoo!). My husband is cooking tonight, tortellini with sautéed garlic spinach. Watching The Masked Singer later tonight.

My dad is having a guest over, who's either a family friend or a distant cousin, so I'm lurking in my room and hoping my laptop battery holds until she leaves.

Got banned from an advice subreddit for making a joke thread. All worth the laugh it gave me. Went to sleep, where I had a dream that involved trying to punch someone in the face but I couldn't because my arm was under my pillow in real life. Went to work. That's about all.

I got banned from a Trek site once for my fan theory that Tony Shaloub's character in Galaxy Quest had a Chinese name because it was an in joke reference to Dr. Soong being played by Brent Spiner

That's cracking me up for some reason.

I dreamed last night that I was attending some sort of weird combination high school boarding school/college dorm (I haven't been in college in over 10 years, and went to a local school so I didn't live in dorms when I was) and some girl I was friends with wanted to seduce my dad and made me take her to his art studio in this building out in the middle of nowhere (he's not an artist). It was just WTF.

So there are two minor celebrities I ship and I keep checking the AO3 tag for their show to see if I can find fic. There's still none, but there's a fic of one of them with a right-wing white supremacist "celebrity" and I just keep saying "WHY" over and over. WTF. I mean, obviously I don't know him personally, but from what I can tell, he seems like a decent guy. What did he do to deserve that?!

Woke up super early this morning as a direct result of drinking last night. Spent all morning super worried about a phone call with my boss, which went totally fine and I had nothing to worry about at all. Got pizza for lunch so that was nice.

Now I'm going to watch the NBA draft except that one of my favorite NBA players just got injured so I'm really bummed out about that.

Work, as per usual. Nothing too exciting there, except unlike yesterday, I wasn't swamped with people calling to get a burn permit (you have to have a burn permit from the Fire Dept. to burn yard waste and such). Everybody is so nutty about burning every damn leaf.

Today was a 'red flag' day, meaning the National Weather Service said we had high-risk fire weather because of 20-30mph winds and dry air. So no burning, yay! :D And nobody went ahead and burned without a permit and got their ass handed to them by the duty crew, also yay.

Went for a walk around the forest trails in the park, put in 9 hours of work, tried to go out for Pokemon Go raid hour at the spot my usual group gathers... and none of the nearby gyms had tier 5 eggs. :P So I started to drive the 15 minutes back home, thinking at least I'd seen a really nice sunset on the way due to heading west, and happened to see a pokestop lured at a church with two gyms. So I stopped and sure enough, there was a car in the lot, and another car pulled in just after me, so I wound up getting a couple raids in after all, with a bunch of people I'd never seen around before rather than my usual crowd.

And the guy who set the lure pulled his car up by mine and was like "Hey, could you do me a HUGE favor and help with the Walrein raid over at the Senior Center?" He'd used a remote pass but couldn't solo it, and didn't want the pass wasted... so we took it down together, and talked a bit, and friended each other in-game in case our paths crossed during raid hour again.

I dunno, it was all kind of cute. I like how Pokemon Go really does, at least in my community, share a certain measure of the "Hey, you like these funny little monsters? I like these funny little monsters! Let's team up and be friends and fight together!" kind of thing that the anime has. Except for the part where most of us are in our 30s and 40s. ;)

Someone ran over a fire hydrant behind where I work and we had a geyser taller than the building for a few minutes. It looked really cool. Aside from that, work was busy.

I set a live trap last night because I have mice in my oven (sigh) but it worked so this morning I walked over to a field a couple blocks away and let the mouse go. I reset the trap but it was empty and unsprung when I got home. Now I'm gonna clean my kitchen counters because I probably had a mouse running around on them, feed my pets, and go to bed.

I'm worried about some flower seeds I ordered from the UK. I didn't read all the way through a disclaimer on the site because I'd bought from them before with no issues and assumed it was about COVID wait times--it was a warning that they now require phytosanitary certificates to ship to the US (several hundred dollars more than the cost my order) and if I didn't get one my shipment might be destroyed by US customs. *headdesk*

They said the odds are low, but I live in California, which has the strictest plant import requirements of anywhere in the US except Hawaii.

*crosses fingers* please please let my sweet peas make it to me. I spent over $150 on fancy sweet peas because I love them and it's hard to find more than a couple named varieties in the US that actually have a strong scent. (And I was anxiety shopping while waiting for election results)

I've ordered violet seeds from a different UK company and sweet peas from this same guy before with no problems. I wonder if this is a Brexit issue, a current US prez admin dumpster fire issue, or a "oh shit there's some new plant pathogen showing up in the UK and if it shows up in the US we're fucked." I couldn't find anything on the US customs website or anything. And it looks like small lots of seed for personal use don't require certification. Idk, but this sucks.

Dealt with horrible HR issues because a new employee somehow didn't think anyone would notice that they were at work 2-4 hours less per day than they said they would be. Dear Anyone who needs to hear this: lying about this kind of stuff will come back to bite you and also piss off the people who otherwise would have your back if you needed extra time.

Well I got offered a job. It's not very exciting or glamorous or high-paying, or even beneficial to humanity. But it's a job.
