First, you realize that there are other metrics to evaluating a show than how many women are in it, right?

Second, I would argue that being shitty to women in real life is on balance worse than writing a show about men

Not like I have much of a horse in this race but are you saying that female characters come off well in Eric Kripke shows? If so, I just have to strongly disagree. Like, there were ultimately many poorly written female characters that waltzed in and out of Supernatural. And by waltzed out, I mean killed off.

That's not what I was saying.

Also I don't remember which seasons of SPN Kripke was actually involved in but that seems like an important thing to take account of.

That's true enough. Supernatural has changed hands a bit.

In fairness, Supernatural had a lot of poorly written male characters, too.

I guess the only difference with them was that if they waltzed out, sometimes they didn't stay waltzed.

Haha yeah that's true.

I ultimately think a lot of people are confusing poorly killed off with the writing overall. Jo, Ruby (both versions), Meg, Ellen, Mary, Bela were ridiculously well-written, but their deaths were shallow and quick (I assume we're sticking to s1-5).

Re: Second
Sure, but you're completely missing the point in your righteous fury. OP isn't saying "Whedon writes better shows ergo he's a better person", they're saying "even though Whedon is more of an asshole than Kripke, his shows are better".

(Anonymous) 2020-12-19 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
All OP said was that Whedon > Kripke. They in no way specified that they were only talking about the shows that they made. That is nowhere in the secret.

and in fact they literally said the words "I don't care how gross Whedon is as a person"

DA, but I think maybe full image didn’t load for you since literally directly following the part you quoted is the part where they specify that they’re talking about the shows they made.
