well I think when you're wife talks about how you specifically like lording power over women and how that impacted your relationship and you fire an actress for getting pregnant, "real feminist" is not indeed a descriptor I would give you. is that revisionist or an understanding of his mindset that we didn't previously have?

also, a lot of the problems with Buffy's writing were overall issues, like Buffy's power being inconsistent only when needing to give Xander some use, or in general how Whedon believes women operate in patriarchal systems seen throughout many of his shows. I find the "feminist" stuff more one-offs than the other, but those issues were so rarely seen that he gets a lot of credit for them.
