I've Been re-reading LoTR I, I read fellowship and two towers long time ago and it's been fun to re-read and refresh my memory, but going very slow. I still have to finish reading Hitchhikers Guide, stoped in book 4 I think.

And yet, I already want to look for new stuff.

I just finished Lyndsay Faye's The Whole Art of Detection , which is basically professional Sherlock Holmes fanfiction. Very enjoyable, comes fairly close to capturing the feel of the canon short stories. I think the author tried to make Holmes and Watson a little more approachable and amiable, but not in an OOC way. Highly recommended to fans of the ACD stories and people who want casefic instead of ship-focused stuff.

I have a goal to read one book a month next year. Going to start with The Night Sister or The Whisper Man.

Best book I read this year was Devolution by Max Brooks.

Sayonara, Gangsters by Genichiro Takahashi. It's alright but I bought it used online and it's weirdly... sticky. :-|

I'd like to read Magen Cubed's new novel soon.

Just started reading Marilla, which I bought with a Christmas gift card.

I've got some other things for Christmas that I'll be reading when I finish that. But that's the one I wanted to read first. And I'm really enjoying it so far.

I got the first four volumes of Given for Christmas. I watched the anime, so the first three volumes were familiar, but the fourth one took a sharp left turn and I'm not sure how I feel about how those events were handled.

I also reread Christmas Shopaholic because it's one of my favorite books to read in December.

after watching the new Emma movie i finally got over myself and started the book.
i am SO delighted! I like the book so far! also my respect for the movie grows bc a LOT of movie dialogue is 1:1 from the book.

Cant wait to finish it

Any recent, or older, dream you would want to share because it was weird, fun or just interesting?

I almost never dream about my crushes, celebrity or not...much to my disappointment! But a couple nights ago, I had this weird dream that Wang Yibo was chasing me through Lowes because he was in love with me and for some reason, I was commitment shy? LOL...

I don't ever remember dreams unless they are nightmares. And the majority of those consist of me being chased.

I used to have really vivid memories, and then in more recent years I don't remember dreams except super boring ones, usually ones where I run errands and shop. Lately, been having a dream now and then where I'm walking in public and realize no one's wearing a face mask and I start freaking out.

I miss having fun dreams.

May as well tell my own dream I had tonight.

It was something about a cat like alien that was a bounty hunter. He also would constantly make imperfect clones of himself as mini-him crew that he would treat as family. There was some b plot to it too but don't remember about.

Most of my dreams are like this, I don't think I have ever dreamed of anything deep. Even my nightmares tend to be goofy after I wake up.

Had an Iolaus/Hercules based dream a few nights ago. Wildly hot. A rare A+ for my brain, thanks for the good food.

I used to have a sound effects guy in every dream. Same guy, always with a megaphone, not part of the action but just in the background singing or making sound effects. He winked at me once as I ran past lolol. Man I miss that guy.

I dream nearly every night. They are usually fandom-related dreams, unless they are nightmares. I'm a semi-lucid dreamer. I'm almost always aware I'm dreaming and have some control but not total control. My dreams usually combine multiple fandoms as well as the fandom-based stories I make up in my head as a go to sleep.

My dreams are usually multi-sensory, meaning I can hear, touch, taste, and smell things as well as see them. In fact, I'd say touch is the most vivid sense in my dreams over sight.

The downside of vivid dreaming is nightmares are vivid too. And with nightmares I'm usually not aware I'm dreaming and I'm unable to pull myself out of them. And when I finally wake up it takes a while for me to really get out of that nightmare place because of how vivid they are and how intense the terror is.

I also have really vivid bad dreams that evoke other bad emotions, specifically extremely intense hurt, loneliness, disappointment, and self-loathing. Dreams where I mess up badly, where I'm disliked and it is all my fault, where I fail, where my cat dies because of me. These dreams are as vivid and as awful as the nightmares. Often worse in fact because frankly these emotions are more awful to me than fear is.

I only dream weird dreams. Like I'm back in my old home, but it's messed up and gross. I dream about happy periods in my life, but they're strange and weird in my dreams. I also have a recurring dream that I'm late for a flight.

I'm sure I do but most of what I remember are nightmares because that's what I wake up in the middle of when I freak out.

I mostly wake up just before my alarm in time to shut it off, so I assume I forget my good dreams before I wake up.

I have a lot of dreams. whether I remember them later or not is another thing entirely.
I had a hilarious dream a few years ago. I was back in school, and on a school trip. There were two teachers and on the trip we saw a car that looked like it a sports car people would drive in The Jetsons. One of the teachers bought it and boasted he'd take his favourite pupils home in it. I wasn't one of them but I got a front seat in the other car. And then my teacher, Stephen Fry, commented: "Cars these days, they're so gimmicky." and I looked out and the fancy sports car had transformed into a bunch of springs with seats on them, all the passengers bouncing along and the boastful teacher holding onto the steering wheel with at me with a pleading expression. I laughed so hard I woke up and I'd actually hurt my throat.

since covid started a lot of my dreams are very vivid ones about travel, going to movies, hanging out with my friends, shopping for books and DVDs and stuff that isn't groceries, etc., in other words anything I liked doing that I can't do now. It's like my brain is trying to make up for it.
