I had a blast watching it, but thinking about it a few days later I have complaints. (Although I was writing in my journal while watching, and I guess I did write, "Oh no, is this about to get racist?" at a certain point, so. I guess I wasn't entirely blind about it in the moment either.)

Specifically though, I adore how they handled the Invisible Jet. I hadn't read any spoilers or watched the final trailer, so I did not see it coming and I had to pause the video to squee when it happened.

I saw and enjoyed the first one, but I never saw the next 1,982, so I haven’t seen this one yet as I probably wouldn’t understand it.

I enjoyed it, but unlike WW I don't think I'd watch it again. Not because it was bad, but because the plot was so very specific that I didn't get a feeling of rewatchability from it (if that makes sense).

I think it was beautifully shot and I definitely cried at more than a few parts so I don't know why people would think it's terrible? But then again, my BFF says I am notorious for having the worst taste in media ever lol.

The lead actors are good and put a lot of energy into their roles.

The action scenes are vibrant and fun to look at (a bit cartoony.)

The antagonists mostly made me feel very sad for them, instead of enjoying them losing. I dunno. I think we were supposed to empathise with them but I just empathised a bit hard.

There is no lesbian love affair.

The 'message' about materialism etc. etc. becomes a problem for me around the time everyone in the world gets a wish. Because not everyone would be making wishes out of disgruntlement or greed, some of them would be wishing for the cure for AIDS or for their child to not die, and ignoring that in favour of telling people to not 'take shortcuts' just got very dissonant for me.

It feels like the movie as a whole was aimed at the lower middle class seeking upwards mobility and, eh. I've had too many years of scraping along feeling a bit desperate to feel like the story really 'gets me'.

Gal Gadot is very, very hot.

I have been bending over backwards to do everything I can to help my parents. And I agreed to help walk my sister's dog while she and my brother-in-law are on their hiking trip because my dad has a bad back and no balance.

However, my dad's bad memory has led him to decide I'm just doing the bare minimum rather than bending over backwards. We've been doing the walks about every 2 hours. We walked her between 3 and 3:30. Then I laid down for a nap. He woke me at 5:30 to walk her again.

He came storming into my room, yelling at me that we needed to walk her again, insisting that we hadn't walked her since 3:30. He just can't remember that 5:30 walk and is absolutely insisting it didn't happen. Of course, my mom won't back me up because she'll side with him even when he's wrong.

Of course I'll still walk the dog with him because the dog shouldn't be punished for him being an asshole. But I'm done with him other than dealing with the dog for a while.

At least my mom has expressed gratitude at other things I've done to help. My dad never does.

A lot of people spot Mickey Mouse logos everywhere in a kind of capitalistic Rorschach test; I spot Suezo. Any singular-eyeball-esque imagery that shows up? My friends, that is a Suezo, even if it is in fact not. Maaaan, I really wish there was a new Monster Rancher game on PS4 because I am seriously in the mood for that.

I'm really enjoying writing stuff that *I* want to see for my OTP even if no one else except one of my friends is reading it and leaving feedback. It's a rarepair in a dead fandom so that's about what I expected and I've been having a great time by myself in my sandbox, you could say.

...Just I can't help but feel a little ... jealous? Frustrated? Depressed? I'm not even sure what it is... to see a new fic show up for fic exchanges in the fandom (and it's good, yay! I am always in favor of good fic in my dead fandom) and immediately get more recognition than the stuff I've been writing has gotten in the months it's been up.

I mean I get that such a fic probably gets more traffic when it's on a big multifandom exchange list and it's possible no one goes to the AO3 fandom page directly anymore since it's basically dead. And I'm still having fun writing, and rereading my own stuff. But I miss feedback or even just a couple random kudos here and there.

And now I have another fic to post but I've already kind of felt bad about dominating the page, and I don't want to look like I'm trying to take attention away from a new fic by someone who's NOT me (cause despite the above, I really am glad to see more fic!)... I just forgot about Yuletide until I went to maybe start posting more fic, and saw one that wasn't by me.

2020 coming to an end and so what?

I guess I'm getting a bit salty about people are looking forward to the new year. Like... symbolically speaking, I get it. But very little is going to change and I'd like to look forward to 2021 like it's a breath of fresh air, but... my day to day life isn't going to change significant. It'll be the same old shit, different year.

Trying not to rain on peoples' parades, but damn...

My brother-in-law has covid and while I'm used to family being ill and not being able to help with that, normally I can at least visit or send care packages. He's twelve thousand kilometres away. All I can do is fret.

Someone paid for my parking today when I found i'd left my wallet at home. It's been a really bad few weeks and this was just the cherry on top, and I was beside myself realising I was stuck. Then this middle aged white lady with a Karen haircut swooped in as my knight in shining armor, paid it for me, gave me a sweet smile and told me to pay it forward.

For the first time in my fandom life my fic got on a rec list! It's not a big one by a popular user or anything, but it was still so nice to see that pop-up in my tumblr notifs the other day, I feel vaguely noticed! (Even if I'm cool with being a nobody xD)
