Becasue creators aren’t thinking about fandom when making something and are writing the story they want to write. They like their characters and want to see them happy and often that means pairing them up, whether or not individuals like it is the least of their concerns. Audiences also like seeing romantic stories come to fruition, its why romance is so common across various media types.
