What??? So in other words, if you don't read fanfiction that's OOC and bad, you're a snob, but if you do read it, you're also a snob. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't, and the only way to not be a snob is to be of the opinion that it's ok for people to write bad fanfic, but also not read that fic because you don't like it. Gee, that's terribly specific! It's almost like you think the only non-snobbish way for someone to approach fanfic is to do exactly what you do.

There's nothing snobbish about not caring what others think? The OP is just talking about how they're having more fun in fandom now because they tried a new approach? Your hostility about it is very, very weird.

The person you're replying to is a snob who refuses to read anything that's not perfectly IC and has perfect spelling and grammar. That's why they feel attacked by the secret and that the OP is looking down on them for not "just having fun" and not reading badly written OOC crap.
