I only started watching the show because I thought (and still think) ASH is hot af. So, naturally, I ship Giles with Buffy (and everyone else). Judge away, anon!

I don't ship it at all, but I think their dynamic completely changes when he deliberately cuts her off from his mentorship. Also, there's that ep where all the adults turn into their teenager selves and it turns out Joyce was a mini-buffy and that's who giles decided to make out with.

I'm with you, OP. I have never understood the desire to ship these two. And I will go ahead and judge people for it. The longer I have been in fandom, the more I find YKINMK, all shipping is totally fine attitudes to be disingenuous at best and harmful or dangerous at worst. People can judge me for that and I won't complain, because if we're honest, we are all judgmental and we all have our limits. Shipping a pseudo-parent/child relationship where one of them is a minor is one of my limits.

They both had such shitty relationships with their fathers that I'm I can't see them even realising what a healthy father/child relationship was.

I don't think that's the whole the problem with the writing, but yeah, that would have made it stronger. They couldn't keep track of that many characters + guest characters each episode.

You can believe that people should do whatever they think is fun, and still not read fic you think is poorly written, OOC, etc., because that's not fun for you. It's fun for other people! That's great! But if it's not fun for you to read it, you don't have to.

You're not superior because you don't mind OOC fic. You weren't superior before when you only read what you considered IC fic.

For me, it was Cate Blanchett as well as Marian Ravenwood back that I liked about the movie. But the racist concept was awful. Two out of four of the Indy movies having icky racist concepts is not good.
