Yeah. Despite the fact that I like them, but in my opinion Pixar movies in general are overrated.

fraud movie studio

How are they a fraud movie studio?

Re: +1

(Anonymous) 2021-02-22 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Their entire reputation is built around being good at doing exactly 1 thing: making animated kids movies that make grownups feel sad

NAYRT but... not sure how that equals fraud? One-trick pony seems more accurate?

Re: +1

They are a one trick pony that has a reputation far in excess of a one trick pony which makes then frauds

Or... you may not like the movies but other people may? It's cool not to like something... you are allowed.

Just because they do one thing and generally do that one thing well, doesn't make them a fraud.

You not liking what they do doesn't make them a fraud either.

They just don't make movies you in particular like.

(Anonymous) 2021-02-22 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I think they’re both kinda boring.

I love Up, but yes it is somewhat overrated. I don't think it is quite as amazing as it is made out to be.

Wal-E is definitely overrated.

The other one I think is overrated is Inside Out. Very overrated.

(Anonymous) 2021-02-23 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Inside Out is good, but I remember the video of the movie sans the emotions scenes and it changes a lot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuwRseq0nRM

I just think Joy is too unlikable as a main character. Yes, she learns her lesson in the end. But before that, she's a bully. Making the main character a bully was a bad choice. For me that brings down the movie a lot. So I think it is quite a bit overrated. It's okay, just it could be better with a better main character.

(Anonymous) 2021-02-23 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
I think in Joy as a good sample of that toxic positivity, so I wasn't surprised she was going to be a bully for Riley's happiness, ironically.

Nah, many of us were cool in school and don't have these hangups that always have you whinging on here.

I have no idea what you are trying to say.

(Anonymous) 2021-02-22 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Both of them have really great openings, but they aren't able to hold it up.

Both movies, I adore the first 15 minutes and that's it. Up especially. Hot take but I despised the talking dogs, yes, all of that nonsense.

I generally love both these films but your comment was an "oh yeah, true" thing for me as Wall-E kinda stagnates when it goes to the space station (after such a beautiful opening) and Up gets a bit ridiculous for me with the talking dogs etc.

(Anonymous) 2021-02-22 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
With the exception of A Bug's Life, the Toy Story films, Piper, and Kitbull, I dislike everything else I've seen by Pixar.

Wall E is fat bashing

[personal profile] meadowphoenix 2021-02-23 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, I was gonna say, I think I actually dislike Wall-E for it's "tech makes everyone fat and stupid" theme. You can criticizes over reliance on technology without doing that.

I think UP is fine, but I actually think its beginning tanks it. They were so good about developing a relationship that seemed deep and affecting in such a short amount of time that the relationship development between Carl and Russel, which would have been fine in any other movie, seemed like it had no heft.
