It was a really effective technique to gain sympathy and outrage from ignorant Americans, though.

Whereas British people who fume with outrage at the mere suggestion that anyone in the royal family or British press could have even an atom of racism about them - clearly reasonable

Every Brit knows that Princess Michael is racist, though, and has always known. Every Brit knows about Prince Philip - and that the tabloid press is racist. I haven't seen any Brit fuming with outrage at the suggestion that members of the royal family and the gutter press are racist. It is known.

DA.

Unfortunately there are a lot of Brits who have really bought into the notion that we aren't racist simply because our racist crazies aren't as crazy as those from the States(I don't think we have an equivalent of the KKK for example, not in the modern day at least). Our racism just presents itself differently but that doesn't make it less damaging.

Prince William was all over the airwaves stating that the royal family isn't racist; similarly the head of the Society of Editors released a statement denying that the British press is in any way bigoted

And I'm sure they're not alone in those views, even if you and everyone you know personally acknowledges Britain is racist

Yes but they know. They just don't admit it.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-17 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
ah yes the convenient "actually people know that im right they're just not admitting to it for reasons"
very popular with christians you know

You can not be a racist family as a whole, but still have racists among you. It does happen. I don't consider my partner's family to be racist in general, however he does have a very racist uncle (who we do not get on with).

(Anonymous) 2021-03-17 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
lol thank you - I live here and think the royal family are parasites on the country and the racism isn't even remotely a surprise when it comes to them.

I haven't said a single word about British people and whether their outrage is reasonable or not. You're bringing a lot of baggage into this conversation and arguing for the sake of being outraged yourself, I suppose?

False dichotomy but cleverly designed to derail AYRTs argument.Plus bonus antiBrit sniping.FS gold medal.
