Which superhero do you most identify with

(Anonymous) 2021-03-21 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Which superhero - or character with superhuman powers - do you consider most personally relatable. Please use as broad a definition of "superhero" as possible, the more obscure the better.

I actually would say Captain America. The way even when he's small he still does the right thing and refuses to back down, His PTSD and trauma, his always trying to do the right thing, his strong sense of right and wrong, the disillusionment he gets from realizing that his sense of right and wrong is not as shared as he thought and that the evil he's fighting is right in his own backyard, but his continued hope and determination to stick by his values and to continue to do the right thing. I both identify with him but also admire him and want to be more like him. He's like an idealized version of what I see myself as, if that makes any sense.

Hmmh. Is there one who's just generally worthless and not good at anything or intelligent enough to be any use, but is somehow a superhero anyway? That'd be me, except without the superhero part, I guess.

Ooph, I felt this.

Since ‘superhero’ is up for interpretation, probably the Chosen Undead ala Dark Souls. Not just because they’re the player character but because of the general philosophies concerning their general existence.

Oracle or She-Hulk, probably.

Kotetsu Kaburagi, because I'm old, tired, can't do things like I used to, kind of a dork, and other people can do what I do so I'm just a sad duplicate of a human being lingering in the shadows.

at least I don't have kids.

Sailor Jupiter ‘cause she’s a tough girl with a romantic heart.

Dr. Strange, I think. Thought his life path was going to be one thing, got brought down really low, wound up with something better and more challenging - but also much much scarier.

I feel like there has got to be one out there who is basically dying anyway so goes out and does dangerous heroic stuff since it won't be any loss if they get themselves killed, actually will probably be quicker and less painful that way, so they might as well go out saving the lives of people who actually want to live.

But since brain fog is one of my symptoms, can't recall if I've actually encountered that or not.

Maybe Concrete. The character is a political speechwriter who’s happiest being behind the scenes but who gets his body switched with an alien being’s, making him a big super-strong rock creature with an acid stomach. When he tries to get his body back, the aliens leave earth and he’s left trying to figure out what he can do with the body while also carving out a normal-ish life in southern CA (he has a cover story of being an experimental cyborg).

Less for the actual superpowers part and more for his insecurities, awkward power fantasies (like daydreaming about using his newfound celebrity to impress people), and his tendency to be stoic on the outside, oh-Lord-I’m-overthinking-it on the inside ways. He tries to do good and ends up in over his head a lot but at the same time I think he’s also the first superpowered character I read that struggled a lot with asking himself and others “What’s the best way to make use of what I am now?”

I like red, think swords are cool, have a smart mouth, and chimichangas are my favorite food, so Sif, obviously.
