My favorite method of watching is the binge-watch where I'll watch several tv episodes in one sitting. And yet, tv is still my preferred media form over movies. For some reason an hour long storyline with elements that then develop over a season just works better for me than a one-time movie-length one. Even though I like some movies, I'm much less likely to watch them at home. For movies, I prefer the theater experience.

For a second, I thought I'd clicked on the wrong link and was seeing yesterday's thread instead of today's post, LOL! Anyway... we had one of these threads yesterday so I don't know how many people still want to post one, but I'll go ahead and monitor this one until tomorrow's post goes up.

But uh, I want to stress that while I try to check FS daily, I can't necessarily guarantee that I'll see any threads not started by me. I probably will! And I'll note in the comments to "claim" a secret, per other peoples' suggestions. But just so you know, sometimes real life intervenes and stuff falls through the cracks.

I liked The Queen's Gambit well enough--characters, scenario, scenography, costumes, etc etc--but I think Beth's "white queen" outfit in the last scenes looked stupid as hell.

Maybe don't do this if you aren't actually going to make the secrets?

I hated season 8 of Game of Thrones. I'm still bitter about destroyed characterization in the name of a quick ending. And yet, I'm still excited about House of the Dragon. The Targaryens are still the most interesting part of the story to me, I loved Fire and Blood actually more than any of the ASOIAF books, and, well, dragons. I know it will disappoint in some way. But I can't stop my excitement, and I can't wait.

[re: the "Pick me, choose me, love me" scene between Meredith and Derek on Grey's Anatomy]

I'm kinda sad people use this scene to make fun of "pick me"s and other desperate people. I felt that though Meredith made a lot of mistakes common to late 20s women in relationships, she was actually pretty mature about her relationship with Derek, especially since she wasn't at fault for not knowing he was married.

B!S: Meredith was absolutely fair to George after they slept together and everyone was super misogynistic to her about it.

I stopped getting annoyed at the obsession with height difference in Seme-Uke/Top-Bottom pairings once I started thinking of it as commedia dell'arte character coding: stacked heels, just like a mask with a big nose, or a patchwork coat.

The final episode of Big Little Lies’ second season ruined the entire series for me. I still get mad whenever I think about how how a show with so many fantastic actresses fell back so hard on the trope of ‘the bad actions a character made was actually their mother’s fault’. Amazing how a show that tried to tactfully explore the aftermath of rape and its domino effect on family and community also managed to slut-shame at the very last minute.

I used to really hate the seme/uke stereotypes and the other typical M/M stereotypes where the top character was always these things and bottom was always these other things. Then I started shipping a pairing where those things actually fit the characters in canon. Suddenly I don't mind the stereotypes with this pairing. I guess what I really hate is OOC stuff where characters are changed to fit tropes. If the tropes already fit the characters, the tropes are just fine with me.

Netflix's Bridgerton was a fun binge. I even tried to read the source material "The Duke and I" by Julia Quinn. OMG it was painful and I couldn't finish it. FS because I have too many friends who just rave about the book series and have no one to make fun of it with.

Bobby Axelrod from Billions is great because it’s so easy to ship him with Wendy and Taylor, both of whom I’m absolutely convinced would insist on using a strap-on, AND Bobby Axelrod is great because he seems the type where he’d still be the more dominate one even when taking it up the ass. Bobby only gets fucked when Bobby says it’s time for Bobby to get fucked... and Bobby says it’s time RIGHT NOW.

The other night during a bout of insomnia I found myself idly staring at the ceiling, pondering the prospect of an ‘adult’ version of Blue’s Clues. Bring back Steve, let him drop a couple hits of acid, and just watch him go wild with an ad-libbed script. Think along the lines of the Pee Wee’s Playhouse stage production.

I might be misremembering the title but there was a cheaply made DBZ/Sailor Moon crossover porno in the early 2000’s called Dragon Balls (?) and ever since having seen clips from it forever ago, I kinda want an equally low budget Sailor Moon/Yu Yu Hakusho hentai where the five female leads of the former ‘take on’ the five male leads of the latter. Lord knows the plot wouldn’t matter but I suspect it’d all be in the name of a grand tournament being run by some evil (and horny) all powerful entity hellbent on taking over the universe (with its dick).

When it comes to the Fandomsecrets community, I find the pro-shippers to be way more obnoxious and out of control than the anti-shippers. Some of the things they say are so out there, I'm kind of wondering if some of them are trolls.

With all the references that Endwalker seems to be making to FFIV, I'm shocked that everyone's leaning into "can't wait for Estinien to betray us bc he's been tempered/taken over!" in reference to Kain doing the same... y'all, we already did that in Heavensward! It was literally the final battle!

Me? I'm freaking out because I remembered what happens to Palom and Porom. You know. The twins. Who sacrificed themselves to allow Cecil to continue his journey. (If anything ever happened to Alphinaud and Alisaie, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself, etc.)

B!S: Perhaps the thing I'm most excited for is the possibility of meeting the twins' (strict, distant, disapproving) father in Sharlyan, bc mmmmmMMMM gimme them daddy issues. Cid can't have a monopoly on them.

It irritates me that Dragon Age is trying to play the Templars vs. Mages conflict like both sides are valid.

Mages are literally imprisoned and denied basic rights. Of course they're going to turn to dark magic and demons; they're desperate.

Tbh, I've never seen an oppressors vs. opressed story where both sides were valid. And I don't actually think there is one.
