Sometimes that's really important! Sherlock Holmes fic (ACD original) that isn't in first person feels "off" to me. Of course it can be done and I've read some good ones, but it's more difficult for me to get immersed.

Most of the stories are Watson's POV (although there are two that are Holmes), and it doesn't matter to me in fic which one it is - though I think Holmes's voice is harder to get right, there's a lot of reward in it if it's good.

I agree with you. SH fic that isn't written in first person feels very off.
