Re: Bathing question
People get either weird or weirdly defensive about this stuff. I remember seeing an argument not long ago about washing towels. Someone said they use a bath towel once then put it in the laundry. Not even my extreme germ freak mum does that!

(Anonymous) 2021-03-26 12:07 am (UTC)(link)People do get weirdly defensive about this stuff. It started because someone mentioned they bathed their kids once a week and flannel washes them the other nights because they have eczema. I know for a fact that's how my mom grew up so it didn't phase me. There were commenters accusing her of child abuse and threatening to report her to CPS. It was wild.
Re: Bathing question
I don’t know what it’s like to suffer it but the eczema thing makes those parents sound perfectly reasonable tbh. If a bath or shower every night causes their kids real discomfort, isn’t that worse? Wow, people throw around child abuse too easily. Aren’t really young babies often only given a shallow bath with a soft sponge every couple of days or so as well? That’s what my sister did and she said it was fine. My niece and nephew are still alive so it clearly didn’t do any harm.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-26 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)Most of my parent's generation grew up with a once a week bath night and flannel wash the other nights and they all survived. Yeah babies you only bathe infrequently.
People are far too quick to throw that phrase around these days.
Re: Bathing question
(Anonymous) 2021-03-26 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)Wow. I can't imagine doing that. I mean, I'm using it on my CLEAN body, so as far as I'm concerned it'll get a little musty from being in a humid bathroom long, long before it gets dirty from being used on my body.
I am a "If it doesn't look dirty or smell dirty, then it's not dirty" kind of person, when it comes to clothes and bath towels and such.
Re: Bathing question
This is reminding me of night bathing Vs morning bathing. Again, I don't really care what anyone does but I'm a night bather as I see it as going to bed "clean" and the amount of morning bathers who try to tell me that my bedsheets are dirty from my body when they're the ones who go to bed without bathing so are surely bringing all the day body funk with them! Either way, it's our own skin and sweat. Unless someone else is going to sleep in the bed (in which case I'd change the sheets) who cares?
