Oh man, I adore Keeping Up Appearances. Hyacinth is such an awesome character.

That sort of china is so gorgeous, I love it too even though it's pricey af. (The show I'm more inclined to associate it with it Jeeves and Wooster, of course!)

I own a cow creamer for this reason!

(Anonymous) 2021-04-13 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
DA No way nonny, that is awesome lolol. I've always wanted one.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-12 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Good luck! Hope you get them soon!

I don't know who she is, but I too covet Royal Doulton dinnerware.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-13 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
I hope you get some OP! I noticed the price of some Royal Doulton porcelain figurines have really come down, so maybe the china will as well!

(Anonymous) 2021-04-13 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'm here for your tea set dreams, OP. Also, Keeping Up Appearances :)

(Anonymous) 2021-04-13 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't know Royal Doulton was expensive. I sort of grew up believing it was like... the 'generic' every-person's "fancy" china lol. Probably because I grew up with parents who took me antiquing and who have a whole collection of Shelley and Foley china, some of which cost me over $100 for one cup/saucer and nearly as much for a pitcher in Dainty Blue for my mom one birthday.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-13 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
This is probably part of the point in the show.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-13 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
That's what I thought, but then someone above mentioned it was expensive to buy? I have confusion~.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-13 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
It's expensive or difficult to get full sets. It's not hard or very expensive to get a few bits and pieces. A neighbour of mine has eight full sets - she inherited one set from her grandmother and assembled the rest over 50 years of antique shops and garage sales.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-13 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
lol I'm the same, I grew up about 3 miles from the factory so literally everyone I knew had a full 3 sets of seconds.

I love this secret, and Hyacinth, and her Royal Doulton.

FYI, it seems that isn’t Royal Doulton. I think these are the pattern:

If that’s right, it’s actually Colclough Braganza.

Ha, all I see is very old-fashioned stale design that brings to mind people like Hiacynth or worse, so you would have to pay me to use it.

(No personal offence intended, OP, you do you, just...my associations with this style aren't great)

(Anonymous) 2021-04-13 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
I'm like this with certain styles too, powerful DNW associations tied to people I have known. I actually love the tweeness of this old fashioned style, but it has positive associations for me. :)
