I think poc voice for poc characters is something that can only exist in the us. When the movie gets dubbed by local voice actors of different countries, all of that goes down the drain anyway and hardly anyone cares.

No, I think people do care, more and more. Look at the "who can translate Amanda Gorman" controversy, for instance.

(Unless you're just saying there's no local POC in other countries, which is just dumb)

The world does have a lot of homogenous countries. Japan is a classic example, but also in my country (and in many other smaller European countries especially in the East) about 96-97% of the population is white. Which is not to say that there are no POC at all - just that there's not much to choose from.

Holy strawman, nobody who speaks up about wanting more POC voiced by POC has a beef with the Japanese dub of some US movie getting a Japanese seiyuu to play the black guy. This is and always has been about the original voice actors.

It's not a strawman, it's literally the point of the parent comment:

Haha well, if so, that’s good! But I believe anons above me were talking about dubbing so I replied accordingly. Also the aforementioned Amanda Gorman controversy (although obviously not about voice actors) showed that apparently there are people who care about the skin color of translators.

Even though Amanda Gorman picked the translator that social media nutjobs harassed and forced to resign.

+1

If we had to cast a POC for every dubbed non-white character, we'd have a lot less to watch because we don't have a big POC voice acting pool to choose from. Also, the audience doesn't care who's the voice as long as they're good at their job.
