I think poc voice for poc characters is something that can only exist in the us. When the movie gets dubbed by local voice actors of different countries, all of that goes down the drain anyway and hardly anyone cares.

As a POC (a term I'm growing to dislike), I can comfortably say I don't care at all. It's always a nice bonus? Like with Mulan (the animated movie), or Coco. But it honestly doesn't matter/occur to me until someone brings up that the cast's race matched the characters, and I'm like, oh, that's nice. I'm already being represented by the depiction, why should I care what race the voice is?

Again, this is the opinion of one "POC".

Same. 70 years is a long time to have someone by your side as a spouse and, if you think about it, a co-worker. I do feel for her, as she's in a very lonely place as far as generational peers in her family go.

I think plenty of people have acknowledged the very human cost of losing your spouse, best friend, life partner, whatever you want to call it. I've been married nearly seven years (so roughly a tenth of that time) and of course if I lost my husband tomorrow I'd be devastated, so I can very easily imagine the Queen will miss hers a LOT.

What I don't like is how legitimate discussions about the insanity that has swept across the UK the past few days are getting shot down by people getting way too invested and saying "omg that's her husband of 70+ years, you monster!" - like, you can feel sorry for her as a human, woman and wife and still think that the wall to wall grief-porn directed at those of us who didn't know either of them is a bit much?

I have no strong opinions about new Trek

But complaining about Trek being too fantastical and not hard SF enough, and Trek alien races being too human, is pretty rich. It's Star Trek. That's what it does

So, I don't know this fandom, but as someone with a fandom that has several semi-immortal characters (most of the cast), it's a bit weird.

It gets more complicated when it comes to immortal or quasi-immortal characters, though, because theoretically, like, a lot of the world is like that? Or when aging's different because of what they are. Or maybe because there's so many in my fandom, I've found more ways to be cool with it.

But at the same time, if she's one of the only characters like that... yeah, I'd be weirded out.

I understand where you're coming from, OP.
I'm the same. Also, the sexual assault of men tends to be treated differently in a lot of media. The sexual assault of women is so pervasive across so much media I'm fatigued by it, as it's often not dealt with well at all ie; sensationalised, made to be about the the pain of the main male character etc. SVU does tend to generally at least deal with these things with a level of sensitivity.
