I find it hard to ship Turk/JD in the show because they have one of those super close relationships where if the gay thing were gonna come up and be a thing, it would've come up and been a thing already. They even literally address it from time to time confirming it's not a thing. It's hard to see how, if it were going to come up at all, it'd suddenly be a new development after all this time.

Fwiw I don't ship either of them with anyone else, and have no ships in Scrubs, so it's not that I ship other things. And I'd be down for AU fic of JD/Turk or it happening in the past or whatever. I just can't see it in a canon-compliant fic, or ship it in the show itself.

There's no particular reason you have to ship it if you don't vibe with it

But as far as this goes as a more general argument, the problem for me is that there are plenty of popular ships that are best friend slash soulmates

Yeah but most best friend slash soulmate ships don't literally have a song in canon about how they do, in fact, love each other, but not in a romantic way.

Also like I said I have no problem with imagining the ship happening in an AU; clearly their personalities get along. I just can't see it in canon in any way and so it's hard to ship for me.
