I'd do the Dimitri route 100 times over so I'm probably the last person you want to hear from but... I kinda enjoyed the fact that the story aknowledged Dimitri as being a very broken mess of a person. Byleth and the others put him on a better path, sure, but that doesn't mean he's gonna go "thanks, I'm cured" and the story aknowledges that he will forever live with his demons but will deal with them in a healthier way, whether the player decides to romance him or not.

Also people calling him out on his bullshit (Felix, Gilbert at one point) is something I enjoyed.

Edit: also no, I don't hate Claude but his character didn't engage me like Dimitri or Edelgard did.

Yeah, too bad everyone follows him and does as he says even at his worst because He's the King. The callouts fall flat when it feels like not enough is done to counteract the harm he does...

You could say the same about the other lords not getting called out.

But Dimitri's arc was that: to fuck up so he could find redemption and become a good king. He was a broken mess pretending to be fine until the whole FE shebangle happened.

Yes, 100% agree on all points here.

I'd probably go Dimitri -> Claude -> Edelgard though, I didn't enjoy CF.

CF suffered not only from being the shortest route but also from being the last one being written after everything was said and done. AM went for character development, VW went for story and that left CM with not much else to focus on.
