When you participate in a community activity, you open yourself up to commentary on the things that you choose to put out there and expect people to comment on. Sometimes that comment won't be "omg this fic is literally better than if Jane Austen and Terry Pratchett co wrote a novel." Sometimes it will be "half the words in this fic are spelled wrong including the protagonist's name and I can't follow the plot because it's very disjointed." When you're getting comments like the second one here, it might be time to think "hm, maybe I should make the bare minimum of effort next time." Not "clearly I am the second coming of Shakespeare and these commenters are just evil haters."
