I am very much a casual watcher who only started with the current season and let me tell you -- the whole April gets her boyfriend (?) to cover up her brother's wrongdoing hit me hard and wrong. The only consequence - the brother had to leave the hospital (without the reason being for his wrongdoing) and a cooling off of April and Choi's relationship. Like WTH.

We may be seeing some consequences soon though! Considering Dr. Manning stole those test drugs for her mom (and her mom is developing some concerning symptoms) and Dr. Halstead has mentioned the lost drugs are being investigated. So even if he wants to cover for her its not gonna do good if its a whole company that ends up pressing charges.

Yeah, it's very rare circumstances where a healthcare worker is allowed to care in *any* way for a family member - it sometimes happens in a rural hospital because there's several members of staff who are related to each other and to a patient, or in an emergency, or when someone is a very specialized surgeon. But in general you're only allowed to interact as a family member, not as a professional. And there's very very good reasons for that!

The saying is "the person who is their own doctor has a fool for a patient and a fool for a doctor" and that goes for friends and family too.

you're not wrong i was so surprised when Meredith fucked up her double-blind research for Richard in GA that she actually got into long-term trouble, but then I realized that grey's anatomy's purpose became to cause pain to its characters, so that includes their own fuck-ups.

but i also feel like the Chicago series of shows is determined to take the worst tropes of all the other genre shows and do them like...all the time.

Max constantly gets in trouble for changing things, breaking the rules, skirting them, etc.

Yes, it generally ends up working out, but not always in *that* episode, some things take a few episodes to resolve the consequences. And sometimes, there's a cascade effect of things he does, that takes an episode or two.

Hell yes! It's not that I'm sorry to see them incorporated into Shadow and Bone... it livens up that universe and storyline, IMO. It's just that there isn't time in the adaptation to do them justice.

I've not read the books, but they were the best part of the show for me and I'd happily watch an entire series about them doing various heists and other shenanigans.

Well, it's a question of etiquette and norms, isn't it? There are a lot of people who think that the social norms with regard to fanfiction should be that critical commentary should be kept to a minimum regardless of whether or not it's deserved.

If you think the norm should instead be that negative criticism should be more acceptable, OK, fine, that's a position you can take. But the way that this secret is written, it sounds like you think people whose feelings are hurt by negative critique are doing something wrong, that they're being overly precious. And I don't think that's true - I think it's a reasonable reaction under the circumstances.
