What characters’ ages have surprised you? How do you feel about it? I’m irrationally angry that Hamlet has to be at least 26-27 (if he’s telling the truth about how he remembers Yorick, who died 23 years ago) when it doesn’t make sense for him to be older than 18-20.

The daughter on 911 does not look 18 and high school graduate age to me. She looks 15 or 16. So her getting a job as a 911 operative and now moving out just feels weird and I keep having to remind myself she's older than she looks.

Apparently L from Death Note is 25 years old. I wouldn't mind if it wasn't for the section of the fandom that has decided that shipping him with Light counts as a problematic ship because of the age gap/Light being under age at 18 years old.
So now you have people judging folks from the early 2000s, who shipped Light/L YEARS before that info was released and everyone assuming that they were about the same age any ways.

In my head, Maria from The Sound Of Music is like 29 or 30, and I point blank refuse to accept otherwise, despite the fact that I'm fairly sure she's meant to be in her very early twenties.

One of the main things I always loved about Maria was that she was a grown woman who had retained such immense, indomitable youthful vitality and childlike love of the world. But at the same time she's excellent with giving a very mature, even-keeled supply of love and nurture to the children. She's a grownup when it's needed, but her maturity hasn't come at the cost of her youthful vitality and openness to things, and I just love that about her so much.

But when I take into account that she's probably supposed to be like 21 years old, it kind of starts to seem like the writers wrote her wide-eyed and youthful and openhearted because, in their minds, she wasn't old enough to be "properly" mature yet. She hadn't fully grown up yet. And I just hate that read on her character so much.

If the only way you "know" a character's age is through calculating it, and the age you get doesn't make sense, I assume it's not canon and the writer was lazy with their math. If the text doesn't explicitly say "Character is x years old," ignore the math and see them as the age that actually makes sense. Hell, there are some cases where different parts of the text contradict each other about the same character's age because calculations don't match.

actually some people place Hamlet at 30 according to the graveyard scene, because how's he remembering yorick so well at 3?

the depth of scholarship regarding how old Hamlet is is hilarious, because going by Yorrick age doesn't make sense to a n y o n e, especially considering he's in college. It's a mess.

We did Panera soups tonight. I had potato, my favorite. Feeling better than I have this past week, but still not great. Doesn't help that I only slept about an hour last night. But somehow I can't sleep yet. So downloading more free Amazon ebooks (and a couple non-free ones) instead since I don't want to listen to anything.

I took a nice long hot bath this afternoon, with good bath salts and a lot of tealights. I watched MST3K and relaxed and just chilled the fuck out for a good hour. It's been hella stressful lately so it was niiiiiiiiice. Afterwards I used my fancy body lotion and put on some comfy clothes, and now I'm watching the 76ers/Heat game. Might have a beer or two later.

I've been insomniac (last night I slept at 2 AM - thanks fanfic! Granted, it was one of the best I ever read for this couple, but.) and then work like I'm about to faint at any time and nap before night classes and then the day is gone. I don't get anything done and on weekends I have more school work to do and chores and then the weekend is gone, crap. At least I'll have a break soon so I can organize my sleep schedule (which is messy because I don't get to see sunlight from home and I only leave the house for work nowadays). :(

Been craving sushi for ages and had hoped to get some now that the shops had opened up again. Unfortunately, most of the places near me are only doing pre-made meals and have included the soy sauce (the one thing I can't eat due to allergies) within the meals - the only exception was a selection of maki; but dammit I wanted fish too, not just avocado/cucumber wrapped in rice and seaweed.

My mental illness might be exposed in a massive prank and I can't afford to sue. They also got revenge porn of me too. I have no proof except my knowledge. I'm very upset and experiencing insomnia for the past month. To make matters worse, no one around me believes me.

Besides reading and the watching of various nerdy things, I love swimming. It was my usual exercise form pre-COVID. I grew up near the water, and I just love being in it any chance I get.

Music is a major hobby. I have my ipod with me just about everywhere I go. I want my life to have a soundtrack.

My cat is my hobby. Everything about her. Playing with her, watching her, feeding her, taking pictures of her, adoring her. She brightens up any moment she's part of.

And I like making up stories in my head. Which I know sounds weird. But it started as a coping mechanism for mental illness. Now it is the only way I can get to sleep at night. I have these whole characters, plotlines, and stories all laid out in my mind. Usually a combination of various fandoms that I'm into.

The fuck is so hard about putting your damn dog on a leash? I don't fucking care how well-behaved or sweet your pooch is, you live in a goddamn apartment in the city and there are people coming and going at all time. You should just operate under the assumption that you will run into somebody anytime you open that door to take your pet out. And just because Covid restrictions are being eased doesn't mean I want to come into contact with you because your dog has run after me and you need to run after it. It's fucked up that it doesn't even occur to you to hold on to your dog or pick it up. Not that it should ever have to had you put your dog on a leash in the first place. Fucking dumbass. I wouldn't be surprised if you were one of the ones letting your dog shit everywhere too without picking it up.
