Declawing cats used to be a common place thing. You spayed/neutered them, declawed them, and got them their shots. This was the 60s, 79s, 80s. It started becoming less common in the 90s.

I just worry, OP. You seem very judgmental about something that is based off your impression of people, right? What if you're wrong?

Yep, all of the cats my mom owned when she was a kid were declawed because that was just what you did back then. No one thought anything of it.
