how is this fandom-related?

It's not.

That was my question.

I'm gonna guess it's the mentioning of celebrities? They were vague, but I'm guessing OP is referring to a celebrity who shared this info with the world?

Is cat breeding a fandom? Would it count there?

It wouldn't escape notice if a celebrity admitted to declawing their cat. Unless it happened years ago something like that would trend on Twitter for days and they would have to issue the standard celeb Notes apology. The mention of celebrities was a cheap way to get their rant posted here.

That's my thought.

I don’t doubt that mentioning celebrities was a way to get around comm rules. But I think you’re overestimating the extent to which social media holds celebrities accountable for their cats. Or did I miss the multi-week media extravaganza in which TSwift apologized for increasing the demand for Scottish Folds despite the fact that they’re deliberately bred to have a debilitating skeletal disorder?

More people recognize declawing is bad than anything about cat genetic diseases.

Anyway, did you forget about the Chris Pratt/Anna Faris giving their elderly cat away. That mess made people angry more than once.
