My older kitty came to me front-declawed, and it was absolutely common knowledge at the time that this was horrible at the time. She was 8 then and she's 17 now, and I imagine her previous owners would have done it when she was pretty small. They also let her outside like that for weeks at a time and abandoned her at my place (initially I was only supposed to be cat sitting for a few months), and I think might have also physically abused her because she was really skittish when I first got her. But anyway they are exactly the kinds of people who declaw cats.
