It's been running for a very, very long time, so yes, tons of racism. But they have updated it a lot in the last 20 years or so, with a lot of African characters in major roles rather than "evil tribal guy" or "innocent village guy".

I once saw it argued that Kim isn’t the kind of character who’s normally the protagonist. She’s the kind of character the protagonist normally looks up to as a distant, seemingly unreachable aspiration, and yet using her as an actual protagonist somehow worked anyway. So creating a situation for Ron to surpass her kinda undermines that at the end, putting the focus back on the ordinary dude . . .

And suddenly, I understand like never before why so many people hated Jaune Arc.

Oh this definitely annoyed the crap out of me. You mention the shamblers coming back with rain and then DON'T captalize on that??? Fucking lunacy. I wanted to see rain-reanimated gross as shit zombies that they would have to kill/run from. Why tease me like that movie??

I couldn't stand her, and I'm usually pretty forgiving of stupid horror heroes. But the fact she made these terrible and poorly thought out decisions and we were supposed to root for her was hard. She was just so selfish (and no, going in to save her friend wasn't a smart idea - especially after the very first scene with her showed she didn't care id her recklessness got her friend in trouble).

I've seen people defending her mostly by saying that the actual villains are horrible scumbags, but it's not like that's the problem - we were meant to hate them, but the movie propped her up as a hero. She wasn't even fun to make up for the flaws. Ugh.
