me too anon. I got dragged along to watch it with friends and freaked the fuck out for a solid month or more because of that fucking thing (I wanted to leave during that scene but my terrified brain thought it would chase me so I sat there gripping my ex-girlfriend’s hand)

That thing freaked out Stephen King. Guillermo del Toro talks about sitting next to him during a showing and watching him start to squirm at that part. One of the proudest moments of del Toro's life.
