(Anonymous) 2021-06-23 01:45 am (UTC)(link)least favorite: the Deep Space Nine and original Red Dwarf theme - and most theme tunes with long orchestral pieces. Like, they're not bad - but I do get sick of listening to it over and over again per episode.

(Anonymous) 2021-06-23 02:20 am (UTC)(link)I also really liked the Hercules and Xena theme songs. And Sherlock Holmes of the 22nd Century.

(Anonymous) 2021-06-23 04:33 am (UTC)(link)The closing theme was a different song with more of a hard rock sound performed by Atlanta musician Jim Ellis, played over scenes from the episodes followed by a still photo of the Cincinnati skyline. Ellis recorded the song as a demonstration for Wilson, and as he had not yet written lyrics for it, Ellis mumbled nonsense words. Wilson chose to use the demo version because he found the gibberish lyrics funny and a satire on the unintelligible lyrics of many rock songs. Wilson also knew that the lyrics would not be heard clearly in any event, as a CBS announcer always talked over the closing credits of the network's shows.

Re: Inspired by 2
"The closing theme, "WKRP In Cincinnati End Credits", was a hard rock number composed and performed by Jim Ellis, an Atlanta musician who recorded some of the incidental music for the show. According to people who attended the recording sessions, Ellis didn't yet have lyrics for the closing theme, so he sang nonsense words to give an idea of how it would sound. Wilson decided to use the words anyway, since he felt that it would be funny to use lyrics that were deliberately gibberish, as a satire on the incomprehensibility of many rock songs. Also, because CBS always had an announcer talking over the closing credits, Wilson knew that no one would actually hear the closing theme lyrics anyway."

(Anonymous) 2021-06-23 03:38 am (UTC)(link)True Blood - Every single thing about the True Blood credits is pure perfection.
Smallville - SOMEBODY SAAAAAAAAVVVVVE MEEEEEE!
Roswell - I just really like this Dido song, don’t at me.
Veronica Mars - Come on, now, sugar! Bring it on bring it on, yeah!
The OC - CALiforniaaa, CALiforniAAAAA, here we COOOOOOOOOMMME.
Fresh Prince - Iconic.
Friends - Those five claps. Also, the song paints a waayy more relatable picture of being a twenty-something than the show itself does, which is weirdly genius?
Community - The absolute perfect song for this show specifically.
Wallander - Haunting and melancholy and extremely spare in that way where you’re like, ILU Sweden, never change.
Gilmore Girls - Another absolutely perfect song for the show it’s attached to. The idea to re-imagine the song as being about mothers and daughters was *chef’s kiss*.
I think Game Of Thrones takes the cake as my least favorite, because it's so. fucking. long. and also doesn't have lyrics. It's very cool and pretty the first time, and then after that it's like, Oh hell no, *skip*.

It's pretty similar but the accordion at the beginning really does it for me.
