I love massive movie universes, with lots of movies and spin-offs. I know lots of people are over them, but I'm not. If the first movie works for me and I'm hooked, I rarely ever get tired of the series no matter how long it goes. I'm still way into the MCU and won't give it up until there is no more left. I love that Star Wars now has so many movies and tv shows. I don't like the DCU, but that's because all but one of their movies hasn't worked for me, not because I'm tired of superhero universes.

I'm still very much into the MCU, but I admit I didn't really get serious about it until about five years ago. But I love seeing how everything ties together, and all the references made across the movies and TV shows.

Exactly. I love big universes where things reference other things, everything is connected, and it ultimately all comes together. I love big worldbuilding like that.

DA - Heh, which ship was it that brought you in? (Just a theory, maybe I'm wrong.) I didn't get big into the MCU until about three and a half years ago, and it was definitely a pairing that did it. Before that I was a casual viewer.

Haha, no ship, surprisingly. Captain America: The Winter Soldier was just such a damn good movie that I needed to catch up with the rest. I only regret that I wasn't able to see it while it was in the theatre.

Fair! CA:TWS was awesome. It didn't convince me to get fully fannish about the MCU, but I did love it (and still do). I think I love Iron Man 1 and Infinity War more, but I'd vote TWS as the best.

I don't get this at all, and honestly, I'm kind of curious to hear why it appeals to you, just because it's so different from my experience.

I like big universes with lots of different worldbuilding. I like when things reference other things. I like when there are all the separate parts, but then they all come together eventually. I like sticking with one universe and immersing myself in all of it.

NA - I wholeheartedly agree with all of this.

I don't think I'm quite as ride-or-die as you are. Like, I'm feeling only mildly invested in the MCU now that Tony and Steve are gone, and I have no idea how much I'll keep following the new movies as they come out.

But in general, yeah, I prefer big, long, sprawling series with lots of room in them to explore and learn new things as you go. I don't think I'm capable of getting truly fannish about a single movie, tbh. There's just not enough grist for my brain to grind there.

Totally yes to only fandoming big universe things. Whether it is movies, tv, or books, I really only get invested (other than the rare exception) when the thing is big with lot of characters and lots of different parts to it.
