I love massive movie universes, with lots of movies and spin-offs. I know lots of people are over them, but I'm not. If the first movie works for me and I'm hooked, I rarely ever get tired of the series no matter how long it goes. I'm still way into the MCU and won't give it up until there is no more left. I love that Star Wars now has so many movies and tv shows. I don't like the DCU, but that's because all but one of their movies hasn't worked for me, not because I'm tired of superhero universes.

I'm still very much into the MCU, but I admit I didn't really get serious about it until about five years ago. But I love seeing how everything ties together, and all the references made across the movies and TV shows.

Secret I DON'T want made? Hmm...

I can't decide whether or not I should fuck out of fandom. But every time I think this way, I get one more stupid idea for a fic that I HAVE to write down. But for the most part, I'm the idiot who stays long after the party has moved on elsewhere. I do try to get into new fandoms but never quite click with anyone, and folks I do know aren't interested.

Well, that was kind of a jumble of thoughts, I guess.

i largely don't care what people headcanon characters as, it's fandom, do what you want, have fun, yada yada.

but i cannot for the life of me take people headcannoning wen kexing, of all characters, as a virgin seriously. it's just so ludicrously ooc that my brain goes 'no' and skips past any fic or posts going with that as a concept.

I don't know anything about wen kexing as a character, but this is how I feel about Tony Stark being a virgin. It's just too ludicrous for me, I can't.

I have an online friend whose headcanon was that Dean Winchester was actually a virgin who only talked about getting laid a lot and my brain short-circuited when she told me.

I really enjoy BL and most of my ships are slash ones. One of my friends sent me a video of a BL-themed cafe in Japan and thought I’d love to go there one day, but it made me sooooooooo uncomfortable. It’s one thing to read about it and ship it, but it’s quite another to pay two real life guys to act out a fantasy for me. It just seems so creepy.

I have always found incest fic gross. That's not really something I'd keep secret.

But I have a friend who ships an incest ship (and realistically, with all the issues it causes, no glossing over) and ... I don't entirely hate the way they write it, sometimes it's even kind of cute? And I kind of want to write something for them just because no one else writes this ship. I know how it is to be the only person shipping something.

I just... don't think I can actually do incest fic. And even if I did, I don't think I'd want to put my name to it. My friend is far braver than I.

Do you think you could write something gen that *could* be read as shippy? If they're the only one shipping it that they know of, that might be enough to make them happy.

I used to follow a writer in the Dragon Age fandom whose work I liked, and whose opinions I largely agreed with - but gradually I just found her more and more abrasive, so it was almost a relief when she made her blog private and I couldn't follow her anymore.
She firmly believed that the only reason people were so hostile to Sera and Vivienne was racism/sexism/lesbophobia - conveniently ignoring that both of those characters are very abrasive people from the moment they're introduced, and are frequently deliberately unkind for no good reason. I'm not saying they aren't the targets of bigotry, just that Sera's 'if you mention that elves are oppressed I hate you' and Vivienne's 'mages should go back to mage jail, the system worked for me so why complain' are not positions calculated to win friends.

If you want to write a character as being homeless, I'm not going to say you need to do real research on the topic (mainly because the details of homelessness vary massively from one place to another, and it's hard to find specific information without, like, actually interviewing someone who is or who has been homeless?), but please, for the love of god, USE SOME SENSE!
A homeless guy might well make money off busking! He might have an instrument that he took with him when he lost his home! It might even be quite a valuable instrument! IT'S NOT GOING TO BE AN UPRIGHT PIANO!!!
A teenager who's living rough could do worse than go dumpster diving behind a nice restaurant, it's true. He could indeed find a fair amount of food in quite good condition. But unless this kid is very, very stupid, or is looking to become really, really sick, he should very much not eat the roast chicken he finds. Please.

Funny you should say that--Santa Cruz, California has or used to have entire homeless bands busking downtown and my mouth dropped open when I saw the dude with the piano. I assume since it's hippie central someone let him store it somewhere off the street when he wasn't playing it. But yeah, that's definitely not practical.

Whenever I hear about a celebrity going through something bad, I always think to myself, “I’d still rather be you than me.” Especially if what they’re going through is related to them being a celebrity and couldn’t happen to a normal person.

Counterpoint: last night I discovered that one of the actresses from Jawbreaker (and probably some other stuff) hit and killed a nine-year-old kid with her car. I have a sad-sack life but I'd still rather be me than her. :/

Jim Caviezel was struck by lightning among other injuries while filming The Passion of the Christ.

Melanie Griffith was mauled by a lion during filming for Roar.

Rebecca Schaeffer was shot and killed at 21 by an obsessed fan.

I don't know, I can't think about celebrities who have nudes or sex tapes leaked without cringing for them. Certainly wouldn't want to be in that position.

I'm not a big Hordak stan, but I still want Noelle Stevenson to explain why she left him out of her first anniversary art when she included pretty much everyone else, even minor characters. I know there's no way she didn't see all the inquiries about it, and most of them were polite and very confused, not rude. Her silence furthers my suspicion that she's salty that he got a fanbase that could almost rival her beloved Catra's if it really tried. I feel sorry for Hordak fans who got stuck with this bullshit from such a childish creator.

I love the smell and taste of my vagina. When I read fic, even m/m fic, I imagine that the characters smell and taste like me.
