Jim Carrey in The Truman Show. I think this is a pretty common sentiment, since it's such a different type of movie from his usual brand.

Ooh, yeah, seconding this. Jim Carrey is/was a great physical comedy actor, if you like that kind of thing, but good god it is entirely too much for me. The Truman Show managed to hit that sweet spot where it didn't feel like an reactive attempt to surprise audiences, it just felt like a natural branching off of his abilities.

Try 'The Majestic' - it's a dramatic role, set in the early fifties, and really good. I used to like JC, but his comedic/ physical stuff just seemed to get really over-the-top and kinda rote after a while, so these two more serious roles are really cool to see him in.
