I haven't seen a lot of Cage movies, but I recall Family man and City of angels, I really liked him in those.
He is like Jim Carrey for me in this regard: I'm not really into their humorous stuff; their "quirky" acting usually makes me see them as themselves rather than the characters, breaking my immersion.

However, when they do something more dramatic /emotionally honest I feel they can still retain their individual charm/quirkiness without it overwhelming me and/or giving me second hand embarrassment.
