How do you feel about rain?

Re: How do you feel about rain?
On the other hand, days of rain - making up for what we lacked? - has left standing pools of water all over the place and turned the area back by the creek from a meadow into a bog, and I can't go outside my house without being swarmed by mosquitoes. Even if I slather myself with deet, they try to land on my eyeballs and lips because you can't use deet in your eyes and mouth - and I inhale them when I breathe.
Rain itself is pleasant enough as long as I don't have to drive in the really heavy stuff.

(Anonymous) 2021-07-10 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)In other words, I daydream about burying climate change deniers up to their necks in the desert as a sacrifice to the rain gods.

(Anonymous) 2021-07-10 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)come to think of it, same applies to stupid people driving through floodwaters...
anyway, this hefty dose of climate change reality in 2021 sucks donkey balls. I feel bad for people in Texas and Louisiana who are getting literal feet of rain while the West has to grapple with the possibility that we may need to abandon California because the water is never coming back. But on a smaller scale in the midwest, it's also feast or famine. We get inches all at once and then two weeks of no rain. No plant can live under these conditions. We're fucked, fam.

(Anonymous) 2021-07-10 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)But where I live, the weather doesn't know what it's going to do for like an hour beforehand. So, you definitely have to keep an eye on the forecast before heading out.
Re: How do you feel about rain?
(Anonymous) 2021-07-10 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)It's rained nearly every day this summer. I'm happy to have rain instead of drought, though.
People don't realize we live in a tropical/monsoon climate here.
Re: How do you feel about rain?
(Anonymous) 2021-07-11 12:09 am (UTC)(link)I do love how the city I moved to seems to have more storms than my old one (It just had rain, not really much big lightning/thunder stuff). Makes me think of where I grew up

(Anonymous) 2021-07-11 04:55 am (UTC)(link)However, if it's a full-on downpour that can be kind of fun.
And obvious as much as I hate rain, it's something large portions of the plant could desperately use more of, so like...more rain please? Just not where I am; I've got enough.
