Oooh this looks good! I struggled to even give She-Ra a try because of the art style slim very excited about this now.

slim = so I’m
Thank you as always, autocorrect.

I don’t think the show was the problem as much as her then launching a massive product range that was pretty much exclusively the same stuff she says you should downsize.

YES. THIS.

(That's it. That's my whole opinion.)

Maybe your problem is that you're looking for comfort reads and not just stories.

Not everything you like or enjoy needs to be preceded by the word 'comfort'.

You can like a tv show without it being a 'comfort series', you can like a character without them needing to be a 'comfort character'. Same for a movie, game, book, etc.

Maybe if you looked for a book to enjoy as a piece of brief entertainment, to last as long as the pages do, instead of deliberately looking for a new obsession, you'd find one of the latter by accident.

Oh that's interesting. I don't think we have this in my country. It does rather seem to undermine her message doesn't it? Sigh.

Often, it is familiarity that makes something a comfort. You know the characters, the plots, the tropes, the stories are old friends and you need little mental bandwidth to read them. In comparison, an entirely new piece of media is exhausting purely by virtue of being new, no matter how good.

It's the same reason the first time you visit a new place, the way feels longer going there than coming back, when you have already seen it once.

It's the same reason we all find it easier to read fanfic than to read new books, because we already know the characters and the tropes, which makes them so much easier to digest after a long day, or during a time of extreme stress (such as a pandemic) than a story full of strangers with a plot of which we don#t know where it'll lead.

she says you should downsize
at not point does Marie Kondo suggest that you should downsize specific things.

Marie Kondo is not a minimalist, she's suggests that you only keep or buy things you enjoy or need, organize your stuff in a way you can consistently enjoy them, and that you actively look to keep out things you neither need nor enjoy. Her having a product line is not in conflict with this, and good faith understanding of what she's written about her method would have made this clear. This "gotcha" about her line was not in good faith, imo.

How do you feel about rain?

It is supposed to rain today and if it passes by us, I will be so mad!

Depends on if I have to drive in it or not. If I don't, then I love it. But if I'm going to have to drive out in it, I don't like it unless it is really light rain. I hate driving in rain.

On the one hand, it sucked when we didn't get any for weeks and the yellow grass crunched when you stepped on it and all the flowers were wilting when they should have been blooming (except the ones in my yard that I watered).

On the other hand, days of rain - making up for what we lacked? - has left standing pools of water all over the place and turned the area back by the creek from a meadow into a bog, and I can't go outside my house without being swarmed by mosquitoes. Even if I slather myself with deet, they try to land on my eyeballs and lips because you can't use deet in your eyes and mouth - and I inhale them when I breathe.

Rain itself is pleasant enough as long as I don't have to drive in the really heavy stuff.
